"Central, luxurious and relaxing"
I stayed at this hotel on business this Week, the only negative is the fact I only had 12 hours to enjoy the hotel!! From arrival to the personal introduction to guest services and then escorted to my room, the team here are both professional and helpful. I really got the feeling of calmness, opulence and sophistication from this hotel, where any need is anticipated before it happens. My take out breakfast (due to a very early checkout) was the nicest croissant and sandwich I have had from any hotel I have stayed in (I stay in many!) Thank you so much for a lovely stay, the complimentary soft drinks and chocolate at turn down service were very welcome. I have already added the Breidenbacher Hof to my place to stay in Düsseldorf.
"Fantastic hotel, great location albeit pricy"
The hotel is extremely clean with excellent breakfast and remarkable service. From check in to check out the hotel staff was extremely cordial and friendly. The bed linen and pillows were very comfortable. The laundry service was also efficient. It is expensive but worth it.
Just checked in and am very disappointed. I stayed here 3 years ago and really enjoyed it hence recommended it to other Interpack-ers and decided to come back again. (OK there were little hiccups e.g. they did make me wait for an hour-ish to check in the last time- I think they gave me room away and had to scrounge one up for me- but overall the service was great and the stay very enjoyable) This time, the service was ABYSMAL. No smile or welcome at the check-in, just silence. I was then asked to sign the payment (not the pre authorisation for additional expenses- I signed this separately)- When I explained that my credit card had already been charged (3 months ago), I was just told "We need you to sign" No further explanation. Thinking that perhaps the receptionist didn't understand me, I explained again but got the exact same non smiling reply. Fine, I signed. The receptionist did her work in silence and suddenly just came round and ushered me off (didn't ask for room preferences, offer me a wifi code, a map, to help with luggage etc)- I actually had a few questions but was so taken aback, I didn't get to ask any. I asked for the wifi code and she gave me 1 verbally (didn't write it down AND didn't tell me which network it was for). When I got to my room and tried it, true enough, it didn't work, I called the Personal Assistant- no one picked up. Called the reception- someone finally picked up after a loooong time. No apology for the wrong code, just gave me another. When I finally managed to log on' The Internet is Really Slow. Any hotel worth its salt- let alone a 5 star one- should know that in this day and age, sub par Internet service is NOT acceptable. All in all, my experience is really just a series of small things, but when you pay almost US$6000 for a stay, you do expect a certain level of service (and not a reception who doesn't seem to have undergone any sort of training)- and this series of small things makes for a very negative experience. Would not come back or recommend to anyone again. PS The rooms are still very nice though, and very well sized, if you go for the mid range room and not the basic one.
I've stayed at this hotel twice in the last year and honestly it's quite difficult to write in words how special the Breidenbacher Hof ist. My second stay I was assigned a room that was on the new refurbished area of the hotel and its even more beautiful than the already 6-star rooms in the rest of the hotel. The staff will make you feel comfortable every time they are within sight and they have gone above and beyond, time and time again, to make sure I felt welcome and had everything I had before I needed to ask. I'm definitely staying again in July as soon as my plans are confirmed :)
I have just completed a short stay in this hotel and can't speak highly enough about it. The hotel itself is in a great location, a short walk to shops and restaurants. It is a short drive to / from the airport and while I didn't get to use the public transport there seemed to be plenty of choice Inside the hotel it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into what makes an enjoyable stay. Rooms well equipped and thoughtfully designed and service that was a perfect mix of attentiveness with human connection. Typically when you get this level of service it becomes pretentious. Not here. No chance to try the restaurant - maybe next time.
