Parking, Reception and Welcome: I found the overall initial experience at this hotel to be pretty good. The exterior looks a little dated, but the overall impression is good. Terrace bar, food and table service: The menu in the terrace bar is a little lacking, Speaking to a friendly waiter, he explained that the "sharing starters" are really quite small, so probably just about enough for a normal person, He was right. Unfortunately the Salt and Pepper Squid was not only small, but pretty bland. I didn't dare bring this up, as I'd already spent 40 minutes trying to place my order for food and drink. I think the guy who served me was new, so i gave him the benefit of the doubt.
"Good location, friendly staff"
The above out of 5 score is down one because we accidentally booked in the wrong Marriot (we wanted the Royal) and we couldn't change without paying the entire price again! So we stayed here instead. It's a nice, somewhat old fashioned hotel and has a slightly off putting internal yellow lighting upstairs. The Foyer is nice and modern and both the staff we spoke to were excellent; going out of their way to be helpful! The room was comfy, warm and had a lovely lovely bed, one of the nicest we've slept in. The bath was nice but a bit too small and the shower didn't work properly. The room was clean apart from a window which had some mould on it (gross). We had breakfast the next day which was good, a nice range of food both cold and cooked. The selection of Danish, breads and croissants went down well with me. Lauren said her sausages were very good. The hot chocolate was just normal powder stuff and the tea was hot but Twynings (who are not fair trade!) All in all I'd say it was actually a 4/5 experience but not being the hotel that we really wanted knocks it down a grade.
"Up to expected standards"
Chose this hotel especially for the central location and spa facilities. The service and facilities were excellent, as expected. Rooms were well appointed and broader spaces beautifully decorated and comfortable. Bathrooms, while functional felt mismatched with the standard of everything else and could use modernising. I'd happily make this a regular stop over.
"Beautiful, simply beautiful "
We stayed at the Marriott on recommendation from a fried, and boy were we glad! The location of the hotel is fantastic, just a two minute walk from Cabbot Circus and ten minute stroll to the harbour. The welcome from concierge was admirable, and check is was fast, efficient and full of information. The rooms although dated are beautifully kept. Spotlessly clean, full of all the usual facilities and the added bonus of a little balcony too! The bar staff were fantastic, really cheery, couldn't do enough for you, and made some fantastic cocktails too! The restaurant was equally on parr with some great food and great service, simply a beautiful weekend. The only negative is the car park is owned by an NCP. Although this is common with a lot of hotels these days, especially city centre locations, it's just a shame it's an NCP as these are generally the very most expensive. That being said you do get some discount on the parking for having stayed at the hotel. I would also very much like to thank the Duty Manager and Sam from the Leisure Club for their help and support. Sadly my partner experienced an epileptic seizure while waiting for a lift by the bar. The help and support from both of you, but in particular Sam was outstanding and totally admirable, while waiting for an ambulance. You both truly deserve a medal and are both assets to the company! Thank you for such a beautiful weekend.
"Excellent hotel! Can't wait to stay again!"
Stayed here initially in September for 12 nights with a colleague and instantly loved the hotel. When staying away from home on business for such a long time it's important to have a bit of comfort which this hotel more than achieves. Located in a great location next to loads of bars & restaurants and Cabot Circus I couldn't ask for more. Breakfast was on of my favorite parts of the hotel! Very appetising and fresh selection every morning and the best staff any hotel could ask for. There was one or two minor issues I raised with a duty manager which he dealt with expertly and resolved swiftly. With how well they were dealt with and the fact they were isolated incidents I won't even name them on here. Since this trip I have just returned from another 12 night stay in October at the same place and booked a further 12 night stay in November. I look forward to seeing you guys again!
