"Nightmare Stay for Christmas Markets"
Buddah Bar Budapest 2nd Dec 2016 We arrived at the Buddha Bar and was greeted by a lovely receptionist who told us the we were getting an upgrade free of charge to one of the suites that was available. We have stayed in the Buddha Bar in Prague previously and enjoyed every second of it. This was the main reason we chose the Buddha Bar again for our stay in Budapest. We were very happy with the room when we entered it. It was spacious, well kitted out and extremely well decorated. It really was a lovely room and we were extremely happy with the it ......... initially!!! However, we left the room at 2.30pm to do a bit of sightseeing and also sample the delights of the Christmas Markets, and when we arrived back our troubles started. We should have realised when we left at 2.30 that something was not right as one side of the corridor to gain access to the lifts was blocked off. When we asked for help in locating the lifts we were told that there was a private booking in the area. When we arrived back to our room (room 519) it was clear that there was a full Christmas party in swing either next door or above us. The dance music was pounding away to such an extent that my mobile phone was vibrating on the table next to the bed in rhythm with the Bass of the music system. Also every time one of the big songs came on the noise would drastically increase with sound of revellers shouting and jumping up and down. Now we are not prudes, but we knew we were going to struggle to sleep with the amount of noise being generated. We rang reception and they told us they would get the noise turned down a bit. An hour later it was louder than ever so we rang reception again and was told that the party would be on until 3am!!!!! But they will get the music lowered. We tried to bunker down and ignore the music but by 1.30am we had had enough and asked reception to move us to a quieter area of the hotel. We were told that the hotel was full and a move could not be done. Its now 2.15am and I'm sat here typing in my review in rhythm to the Goombay Dance Bands River of Babylon!!!!! I would like to point out that i have no problem at all with the people from the party. It sounds like they have had a fabulous time and i bet they will have sore heads in the morning (if they make it). I wish them all good tidings and very Merry Christmas (with the emphasis on Merry). My severe gripe is reserved for the hotel. Its main purpose is as a hotel, not a nightclub. It promotes itself on its ambience. Nowhere does it state that there is a disco, nightclub or whatever it was going on this night. On site. Even worse is that you thought it would be acceptable to put guests into a room basically next door to the said Party without even thinking that the nouse may be an issue. Also with regards the room move, really nothing available!! What about the room we were upgraded from on our arrival a few hours earlier' Im afraid this Buddha Bar is not a patch on the one in Prague. If you stay just pray theres no private parties booked in as us meagre single bookings get pushed aside to accommodate the larger groups. Very Poor Buddha Bar. You have saw the pound signs for the large booking and did not care a jot about the rest of us.
"Bathroom is not instaled with handicapped facilities....."
We were satisfied with everithing,- really silent rooms, comfortable bad, good TV programs. Bathroom has no handles to grab when coming out of the bath. WIFI in Floor 5 was not good enough but we have given assistant to get it better. Breakfast is really good.
I stayed here for a few nights in early November with my wife and we were both really impressed with this hotel. We stayed in an Executive Room which was amazing. It had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, plenty of space and a great bathroom (only slight criticism is nowhere to hang your towel when you're in the shower, but that really is being incredibly picky on my part!) Right from check in up until we left the staff were helpful and friendly. Great choice of food at breakfast and we ate in the Lebanese restaurant at the hotel on our first night. While it's certainly not the cheapest restaurant in Budapest, the food was excellent as was the bottle of Red that we had too! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would definitely return to Budapest, which is a great city and would, in all probability stay at the Buddha Bar again too.
"Fantastic hotel in the best location "
My daughters and I stayed at this lovely hotel in the search of a spa and Christmas markets. My daughter had broken her ankle two weeks prior to the trip so the hotel organised a wheelchair. As soon as you entered the hotel the smell was gorgeous! The receptionist was amazing she gave us some good tips on places to eat and directions to the markets , spa and restaurants. They were all within walking distance of the hotel. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with lots of room. Wonderfully comfortable. They have Japanese toilet seats if you have never experienced them you must try! We used the bar and had cocktails which were brilliant as was the Lebanese restaurant. Altogether a fantastic trip.
"Take your boxing gloves!"
This hotel wasn't the best but the location is second to none. The staff aren't particularly friendly, the room cleaning is hit and miss and our stay was ruined by an American neanderthal who wanted to fight everyone at the bar (may have been coincidental but it seemed only to be people who were not caucasian). It took other guests to take action before the man was taken elsewhere by reluctant security. He still managed to punch another guest on his way out smiling. Some of the staff were visibly upset but told us they were under orders to keep serving customers alcohol regardless of behaviour. It was unbelievable, the hotel weren't interested in complaints and just wanted to pretend it didn't happen. We asked if they had a policy this type of behaviour or a formal complaint process and we were just looked at blankly. There again they do advertise call girls in your room so perhaps not the standard of hotel we were expecting. If you like a fight, are going with a group of lads and want to do anything you like this hotel is perfect for you. There are better hotels for a romantic get-away.
