"We were robbed from the safety box at the hotel and the manager did nothing"
During our honeymoon, my husband and I spent a couple of days in Florence at the Ambasciatori hotel. The day of our check out, we could not open the safety box were we kept our passports and some cash. Someone from the front desk came to unblock it, and then we realize, 150 USD were taken from the safety box. We notify the theft, so the receptionist called the manager who gave us a form we filled out and asked us to make a report at any Italian Police office so they could claim the insurance company. We made the report and sent it to the hotel, after several mails and calls they responded they would send the info to the insurance company. It has been 6 months since the incident and we haven't been contacted by any insurance company. We believed in the Hotel Manager's (Vitone) word but sadly it was just a waste of time. Be aware!!!
"Very noisy: A shame"
We traveled extensively, this hotel was the nosiest we ever came across on the globe: There is music from a bar until midnight, that can be heard throughout the hotel through the ventilation system. At 04:00 am people are starting to leave for the airport, producing noise when shifting chairs or moving suitcases. The maids start at 06.30 am to move chairs, tables and beds. Both of us used earplugs all the time: to no avail. You basically have four hours of noiseless night rest. Unfortunately, there is not much that could be improved: The cause for the extensive noise is the marble floors. By shifting wooden furniture or moving suit cases squeaking and rumbling is what you would expect and also get in excess! All in all a shame, considering the location , the friendly staff and the price.
Lovely hotel - large comfy and modern room - with most things catered for (some milk for the tea would have been nice!) Asked for some at reception and was told sorry we don't provide milk - It's just the English that have it, Italians don't' There's a supermarket round the corner if you want some'' To be fair that was my only gripe! Really enjoyed my stay otherwise
We stayed here for 5 nights and below are brief thoughts - Rooms were tiny - Mattress was not good quality and king bed had two twins that kept on separating - Walls are very thin and you could hear people next to you. - Across from train station and opening window, day or night, is not an option as it gets too loud. - Dropped a piece of cookie and few hours later there were ants all around it. Ok for a short stay for day or two but not good for longer stay.
"Great location friendly staff not impressed with room"
Checked in greeted by very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Room was a major disappointment. Problems with the a/c and shower had half a door and water leaked all over the floor. Breakfast was ok. Location great but views not.
