The Palazzo Gottardi is situated on Strada Nuova, in the heart of Venice's old city centre, near innumerable places of interest: the ancient Jewish ghetto (which is near an area full of inns and trattorias offering typical Venetian cooking), the famous Rialto market, the Santa Sofia wharf, and, of course, the Piazza San Marco and the church of Santa Maria della Salute, from where one can see a wonderful view of San Marco Bay.

"Beautiful and unique city. Wonderful hotel."
A small, intimate, delightful boutique hotel, situated by a canal in the heart of Venice. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff made our 4 night stay a joy. The hotel was clean and the rooms comfortable and decorated in a tastefully Venetian style. Breakfast was just right with an assortment of pastries and meats and if you are British, cereal to choose from. An endless supply of coffee is provided. Staff were solicitous and keen to help and all spoke English well, so no language barrier. If Wi-Fi is of concern to you, it's a little iffy in the rooms due to the age of the building but really that should be of little concern when you are visiting this culturally rich city. You can get Wi-Fi in the lobby and a lot of restaurants offer free Wi-Fi if this is of real importance to you. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting all the landmarks and sight seeing highlights, but if you are feeling frisky, you can wander the streets and get lost and still have an amazing time-Venice is a city that assaults all your senses in a vibrantly, stylish way. We didn't use a gondola-they are just too expensive-so we walked everywhere. You will certainly reach your 10,000 steps in a day very easily!! This trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and I couldn't fault it for making the event a special one. We went at the beginning of October and the weather that week was perfect-beautiful sunny skies to highlight the colour of the city below. It was fairly crowded but not too bad. I have heard that it can be relentlessly busy in the summer months and incredibly hot-which has a knock on effect with the smell of the canals apparently but this was not the case for us. We found the city to be very clean. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay such a fulfilling, comfortable, happy and carefree one.
I stayed at this gem of a hotel while on business. The hotel is centrally located near a quaint little canal. The check in was smooth and easy. The receptionist helped with my luggage as I was staying in the annex building. My room was a Junior Suite and I thought it was beautiful and clean. There were two very large windows where you could see the city life before you. As I mentioned, this room was in the annex which requires walking many stairs. It would benefit the hotel to install a new door to the annex and clean up the walls as well. Nevertheless, I was very satisfied with the room. The nearest ferry stop is Ca' de Oro which is a short walk away- very convenient to sightsee. You can buy day tickets or multiple day tickets from the tobacco store a few meters away from the ferry stop. The complimentary breakfast was also very nice! Hard boiled eggs, ham, cheeses as well as assortment of breads, pastries, jam and fruits. Custom made coffee and tea was available as well. One evening there happened to be a jazz concert in the lobby of the hotel which I attended and enjoyed very much. I have to say that every single person I encountered at the hotel was very helpful and nice. These are the establishements I love staying at during my travels- it is much better than the large, impersonal hotels. I would definately encourage anyone considering this hotel to book without hesitation.
"Beautiful hotel in heart of Venice"
My wife and I stayed at Ca' Gottardi for 3 nights on a recent trip around Italy. The hotel was beautiful, historic and perfectly located near the Grand Canal and Ca' D'Oro watervlbus stop. Although I was on crutches from a broken leg (terrible timing!) we never had to walk far to get around this beautiful city. The hotel staff were all very kind and helpful with guidance and arrangements. Our room was on the street and small canal so there was normal noise but not disturbing. The hotel itself is extremely clean, beautifully furnished and designed. The lobby included a breakfast are with impeccable service and food varieties. I learned that Venice's second floor is actually the same as the third floor in the US, so lots of stairs to get up and down to the room and the lobby, but well worth it!! Would definitely stay there again!
Nice place to stay. Not far from anywhere, and there are some nice places to eat nearby. Staff very helpful. Wifi isn't great in the room. But fine in public areas. Breakfast was fine. Not vast amounts of choice. But think that is the norm for most Venice hotels from what I've heard. Only bothered to have to it twice out of our 5 night stay as may as well go or for a nice lunch! Very good air con in the rooms!
"Great Place to Stay in Beautiful Venice!!!"
Would like to thank Luisa, Fabio and Staff at Ca'Gottardi for a great stay at their hotel. We traveled as a family of 4 (Three adults and 1 teenager). The hotel was great in upgrading us to their suite. The breakfast was great and the hotel breakfast area was a great area to relax anytime during the day once you finished your sightseeing around Venice. The staff provided you valuable feedback on where to visit and maximize your travels within Venice. Will stay again at Ca'Gottardi when I visit the most beautiful city in the World.
