"Great view, rooms in need of modernization"
I hadn't stayed in this hotel after it was taken over by Accor management. The location is ideal off Ipanema beach, but the rooms, breakfast facility and lobby are badly in need of refurbishment. In my room, with a nice view of the beach and ocean, several things were not working: bathroom scale (no battery), windows that didn´t shut properly to keep out the wind and noise, bathroom sink faucet that dripped, etc. I understand that the hotel may be closing soon for a major refurbishment which it badly in need of. The breakfast buffet is sparse and uninteresting (especially when compared with the magnificent buffet at the Copacabana Palace where I normally stay). No international newspapers are available and the TV signal is not HD.
"Excellent location .... by the sea"
Excellent premises, great location in front of the sea. Room was great, so was breakfast with their amazing fresh Brazilian coffee. Everything you can expect was available for breakfast, fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread, pastries. I personally do not recommend scrambled eggs since they are a bit cold and watery. Swimming pool area and bar at the top of the hotel was also enjoyable. Bathroom lavatory was blocked and it was a bit annoying. Staff was friendly. Chairs and parasol available at the beach at no extra cost.
"Amazing hotel -- you should stay here"
I recently stayed at the Caesar Park Hotel, visiting from the United States. The hotel surpassed my expectations. The location of the hotel is right on the ocean, and the views from the hotel room were stunning. The bedroom and bathroom were completely updated and decorated beautifully. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful -- and willing to take extra steps to ensure that my stay was perfect. A few extra notes: the roof deck/pool area is terrific and offers sweeping views of Rio and the ocean; the daily free breakfast was delicious; and the rooftop bar offered top-notch drinks and food. All of this for a reasonable price. Can't beat it.
"Perfect location, perfect service"
Accor is definitely the master of lodge industry. Service was, well, impeccable, arrived at 9:30 am and they got me an upgraded room right away. This is not courtesy, it is privilege. If I was to point out some improvement opportunities, I would go for renovation. Rooms are clearly outdated, and need some serious renovation (sometimes restauration).
"I expected more"
The hotel is well located, on the beach, in Ipanema. The room was large and gave us a view of the beach, northwards, towards Copacabana. Breakfast was ok but... the rosti potatoes were too cold and the scrambled eggs were to wishy washy. No gluten free bread or biscuits (hey 1% of us are coeliac!!!). Our lavatory was obstructed so if you opened the tap ( room 1609) the lavatory soon filled up with water and took ages to empty -that is not worthy of a 5 star hotel!! They have parasols and deck chairs on the beach, but I found that out on the second day, when I saw the green parasols with "Sofitel" written on them, the hotel staff never told us about them. When you pay for a 5 star hotel those details should be covered.
