the Canary hotel's privileged perch one block from State Street in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara. Close to the shopping nirvana of Paseo Nuevo, the historic Lobero theater and countless cafes, boutiques and galleries, the Canary is spot-on spectacular for discovering the pulse of this colorful city. Less than two miles away from the Pacific Ocean and thirty minutes for the central coast wine country, Canary is the ideal location for your next vacation.

"Canary Hotel Goes Above and Beyond"
We had the pleasure of staying on the 5th floor in room 502 (King, balcony) in Santa Barbara this weekend. I would highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is in a great location. We were within walking distance of State Street with many excellent restaurants along the route. We also walked to many attractions including Sterns Wharf which was only .7 of a mile away but a pleasant walk, and the Court House. The hotel staff (especially Ian, Beau and Max) made us feel like we were old friends. They were friendly, efficient, and attentive to all our needs. I especially liked the coffee bar in the morning and the complementary wine bar in the afternoon. But my all time favorite was the amazing hot chocolate bar complete with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, carmel sauce, marshmallows and much more. These services gave the hotel a B&B type feel. They even provided "treats" for their four-legged friends which I found so sweet even though we didn't have an animal! The housekeeping service was also top notch! Our room was beautiful and extremely clean and comformable. There was free Wi-Fi. I would definitely stay here in the future. The only downside was a $35 a night parking fee which we felt was kind of steep. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay!!
"Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of Santa Barbara"
The Kimpton Canary will be my go-to hotel whenever I am in Santa Barbara. We went to celebrate a birthday, and it was a lovely weekend that we will remember for a long time. Location: It is right in the middle of Santa Barbara, and we were able to borrow hotel bikes for the short ride to the water. If you are in town on a Sunday, make sure to check out the art fair along the coast. It is also within walking distance of a plethora of shopping and restaurants. My favorite things: 1) The hot chocolate bar - Over the holidays, they set up a hot chocolate bar with all of the fixings. 2) The rooftop pool - Views of the city and the ocean with flavored water and fruit to help you enjoy it. 3) The wine reception - Since it is a small hotel, we were able to chat with other guests and made new friends with folks from the UK. 4) Remembering our birthday celebration - with a wine and cheese plate. It was so wonderful that a 1am fire alarm could not take away from a well deserved 5-star rating.
"Charming, relaxing boutique hotel with a blend of spanish and western decor"
Our family of five (3 young adult daughters) spend two lovely nights at the Canary. We were greeted by a friendly, bellboy who happily remembered us at our frequent requests for our car each time we left. The front desk welcomed us with a glass of wine and an upgrade for one of our two rooms so we could be connected. Immediately, this made us feel special. The rooms were large and well appointed with rugs, a canopy bed, and western/spanish accents. The beds and linens were excellent. Despite being on the front of the hotel with a main road right outside the window, it was very quiet as were the hallways. The hotel is located in the center of the downtown which made it quite convenient to the many shops, coffee places and wine tasting rooms. Despite cool weather, we got to the roof top to take in the sunset and views along with the a glass of wine. It reminded us of a hotel we stayed in Florence, Italy. We had a nice lunch at the hotel restaurant. The food was very tasty and the young waitress efficient and friendly. One thing that adds a special touch is all day the hotel has various beverages you can just help yourself to in the lobby: coffee in the AM, hot chocolate in the afternoon, and wine late afternoon. It's a very nice extra amenity, which we everyone appreciated. Due to a rainy day, my oldest daughter and I went to Grassani wine tasting room having been given a 2 for 1 tasting pass by the front desk, which again was appreciated. While the weather didn't cooperate, we were glad to have a nice relaxing hotel for the last day and half for our trip to LA and the Rose Bowl festivities. I would highly recommend to all: singles, couples and families.
"Stay here!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful hotel!!!"
We had the best experience at this hotel. We were greeted by Ian, a very king guy at front desk. He upgraded me and my husband to a very beautiful suite, with an amazing and very confortable bed and a chic decor. The hotel is amazingly decorated and has a wow rooftop with pool, jacuzzi... I would definately stay at the Kimpton Canary again.
