This place is lovely, the stuff were fantastic and very accommodating, the breakfast was excellent with a choice of hot food and buffet items, the room we had was excellent with a huge ensuite bathroom and great showers. The location next door to 'Chefs Warehouse' (our favourite restaurant during our stay in SA) was brilliant. My only reservation and reason for knocking off a star was how loud the adjoining bar was downstairs. The music is really quite loud and certainly more than audible in the rooms upon an evening. It didn't bother us tooo much but it certainly took a bit of the sparkle off an otherwise flawless stay.
"Characterful city centre hotel."
We had a great start to our honeymoon at Cape Heritage. Large comfortable room, with balcony looking into the Heritage square. Hotel is memorably and individually decorated. The hotel staff were very attentive and helped us buy tickets for Table Mountain Cable car in advance saving us a 30 minute wait. Also ready to give advise on walking directions, safe places to go etc. Good selection and quality of breakfast. The hotel itself didn't have a bar or restaurant, but this wasn't a problem as there are several excellent restaurants in the same block, some of which you can access across the Heritage Square without going into the street. Thanks for the memorable stay.
"Buzzing with history"
There are pretty much 3 areas where (safe) nightlife is happening in Cape Town. Waterfront, Long Street and Bree Street. This hotel is on latter, which has pros and cons. The good thing is, you can enjoy yourself way beyond sunset at some extremely cool locations. Con: others do, too. If you want a noise-free night, don't come here. The isolation is a "historic" as the hotel is made out to be. If this is not a problem for you, then this is your place. Great rooms, great food, best location, and very, very good staff. Seldom felt better taken care off.
"Great hotel to experience Cape Town"
We stayed here for four nights after flying into Cape Town at the start of a two week holiday. We wanted to be in the city close to restaurants and bars. Location was perfect. Hotel booked us taxis until we realised Uber were in Cape Town as well. Our preference is for small boutique hotels with great character. If you like period buildings, this is an exemplar. As with most period buildings, there are a few shortcomings, but these were minor compared to the overall quality and feel. The bed was really comfortable and the room nicely appointed. The manager and her team are a delight. Nothing was too much trouble and their humour made the stay welcome and comfortable. As an example, we asked for towels for the beach and were given a bag with towels, frisbee and water. A thoughtful touch. Bit of a scare before we came as we read reviews about the hotel being in a noisy location. The Hotel Manager was honest about the street noise and calmed our nerves and also informed us it was party night in Bree St on our second night. We are pleased we stayed as we easily slept with the help of silicon ear plugs. It was not as bad as we feared. We would stay again and recommend.
"A truly great city centre hotel"
Our end of holiday stay at the Cape Heritage truly exceeded all our expectations, and we encourage all to give this great place a try. City centre hotels are often very average, lazy and tired, as they trade on their location and old reputation. The Cape Heritage is totally client-focussed from the moment you approach the steps to this wonderfully restored wood and brick property, and their attention to each and every guest is a appreciated and outstanding. Our room was spacious, the decor is smart and homely, and the breakfast staff were attentive and cooked whatever you want. The front desk offered to make tour bookings for us and even got us a late booked afternoon slot at the Mount Nelson for tea (don't worry if it is full, go along anyway and enjoy an afternoon cocktail on the same terrace). Well done to all the staff who made our final days of our holiday ones to remember.
