"This is not a 5* hotel, and watch the costs"
That said it is a nice hotel but not a 5*. No concierge, and whilst some of the reception staff are good and knowledgable some are very unfriendly and offer poor service. Porter carried 2 bags when we arrived and asked us to follow him so as we were 5 we had to carry the rest ourselves. We went to reception to check out and no one offered a porter service so had to take our own bags down. They also added state taxes when he were included in the costs of the other so we also needed up with a higher check out cost than we had expected. There is not a restaurant, and the choice for breakfast was only that of a 3 star hotel. Whilst the service in the coffee shop at the front of the hotel where you had your breakfast was excellent the food offered was not great. Glad the weather was good as there was only room for about 15 people to eat inside''''You had to pay extra for water and cappuccino which was a bit petty and as included in the other hotels. We stayed at 3 hotels this trip 2 5* and a 4* and this is how I am measuring this hotel. The gym was very poor, tiny no air con and only a couple of bikes, no running machine! The rooms are very spacious and it feels more like an apartment block that a hotel. Ideal for someone with children who wants more rooms together. Bathrooms are showers only and the shower was completely covered in mould. Rooftop pool was poor as it was covered in leaves. Lift was broken from floor 8 and you had to get out and walk to 10. Downstairs ladies loo was out of ordered for several days. Bed was a good size and sheets and towels were a nice quality. This is a great location but we were warned not to walk around after 10pm and we never saw the shuttle bus, but always taxis outside. With some small adjustments and more emphasis on the service this could be a decent 4*.
We stayed at Cape Royal for 4 days during our visit to Cape Town. It is a beautiful hotel located just 10 mins walk from the V&A Waterfront. The room and service was very good. However, my boyfriend ordered flowers to the room upon our arrival. The flowers were there, but they were not the ones he ordered as well as the way the were placed was not they way they discussed on the phone. If you are looking for a hotel with a rooftop bar this is not the right one for you. Though there is a so-called rooftop bar in the hotel but it does not belong to the hotel and is definitely below the hotel's standards. All in all, a very nice choice if you prefer staying close to the Waterfront.
"Great BA se to explore this stunning city."
Just outside the Waterfront but still easy to access and surrounded by some really nice restaurants / coffee shops. Some extremely helpful staff ( Talent was super helpful ). Easy access into the Waterfront but not walkable after dark - there is a shuttle.
"Always Dependable High Levels of Service"
Despite some of the challenges the shareholders continue to have, their service and attention to details remain consistently high. We arrived at the hotel at 6.45pm and were in our room with our luggage at 6.50. We found new beds in our suite upon arrival - Yeah! They were larger than we were used to and much more comfortable. Well done Cape Royale. We stayed a week and only once had an issue when someone occupied our parking bay. This is a great place to stay. It is central and very comfortable. It was noticeably more busy than usual, so I can only assume the message has finally got out.
"Location location location"
This hotel offers one of the best locations in Cape Town. It's very easy to walk to the waterfront from the hotel and it's an easy drive anywhere else in the area. The rooms are nice and it was a nice surprise to have a full kitchen and laundry facilities in each room. I was not impressed by the pool on the upper deck (I don't think its managed by the hotel, though)
