"Excellent location for a great hotel"
Stayed here based on proximity to Greenpoint Park as I was participating in a race starting there. The hotel is luxurious and everything from reception to the room is wonderful. The hotel cafe, however, isn't the best in town. And for some arbitrary reason there is no liquor license for the bar on the roof - what a horrible waste of an incredible view. Overall, a great stay.
"Great Hotel for Cape Town Stay"
We just finished our holiday in South Africa and used the Cape Royale as a base whist in Cape Town, the rooms are large based more on an apartment than a typical hotel room. They have a kitchen and lounge area equipped with washer dryer, ovens etc. Staff are very friendly and keen to help your holiday experience. The location is good with only 10min walk to the V&A if you don't want to wait for the free shuttle service. There are also some good restaraunts near the hotel as an alternative to the Waterfront. A great hotel and would use it again when we are next in Cape Town
"One of the best hotels in the world!"
The rooms, service, location and rates make this the best hotel I've ever stayed in. There's really no issue I can point to for this hotel. They accommodated every special request I had with little cost.
"Avoid Casuarina Spa at all costs"
This review is for the spa housed at the Cape Royale Hotel in Green Point, not the hotel itself. For some reason Casuarina does not have its own page on Tripadvisor. I booked the couple’s spa experience at Casuarina which was billed as a luxury experience at a 5-star hotel. It was anything but. I will just list the many missteps and disappointments we experienced: - The spa staff were poorly trained in making us feel welcome and in explaining how the treatments would commence. - As we changed our therapist told us to ‘hurry up’ - even though we arrived 10 minutes early. - We were horrified to find that the bath gowns we were given to change into were unwashed and not smelling fresh. Probably worse was that the hotel slippers we were provided with were not new, but were clearly old and worn. - Worst of all was the massage itself - the therapist was definitely not trained or experienced enough because she had COLD HANDS that were also rough. First rule of massage treatments is to not touch your client with cold, rough hands! - The massage was not very good - there was no flow or consistency to it and I spent the whole hour reminiscing about all the better massages I’ve had before. - At the end of our treatment, while we changing back into our clothes, we were again hurried out of the room by the therapists. I can’t believe this is what is being offered by a 5-star establishment. I wouldn’t expect this kind of service at a 3-star hotel spa. Goes without saying that I won’t be returning to Casuarina again.
This hotel is worth every penny. The rooms are large and come with a small kitchen and laundry. They were very clean and beds were great. The service at the hotel was amazing. They are always saying hi and going out of their way. The location was great too. It was a 10 min walk from the VA waterfront (they also have free shuttles).
