"Lobby Bar Service and Italian Restaurant are great, Housekeeping OK, No Points"
I stayed at the Hilton Caribe at the end of October and knew about the shooting they had there in July, but wanted to keep my reservation and see if security had been beefed up. I went with some friends and we requested adjoining rooms prior to arriving. The adjoining room wasn’t available when I checked in at 3:30, so I waited until 5:45 and it still wasn’t ready so I took any room that was. Room was fairly clean and odor free. I used to work for AAA so I have been trained on inspecting rooms. I did notice some candy wrappers in almost every corner, at the refrigerator, along the base of the bed, and under the desk. Seemed like the vacuum pushed them and they were never picked up. I left them there until I had my housekeeping visit, but they were never removed. So, I picked one of them up, unwrapped it and it was a Ricola cough drop wrapper. I picked all but one of them up and threw them away. Bathroom was clean and the shower curtain had no mildew smell. Mentioning cough drops, the room quietness could be improved, I did hear the man in the room against my headboard coughing from about 4:45 am until I got out of bed the first morning and the sound of the local airport generated some noise around 5:30 every morning. It was nice seeing the sun rise over the water. The pool area does have a security guard that checks your bag and instructs you to get a wrist band at the towel hut. Although at the pool bar one day there was a woman I smiled at as I was walking by and she screamed at me “F@$& the CIA”. I just laughed it off because the security staff seemed to be keeping an eye on her. I made sure I charged everything to the room because I gave them my Hilton Rewards card at check in and was only one stay away from the next level of benefits. The beach is nice, the pools are nice, there is a nice plaza that you can access through a walkway across the street from the hotel that has an awesome Mercado. Checkout was smooth and the bell hop even weighed my luggage so I could make sure the rum from Bacardi didn’t make it overweight. Flew home and a few weeks later was looking to see how many points I’d accumulated and didn’t have any. I also noticed I couldn’t open the receipt like I could from the other Hilton stays through the year. I emailed the Hilton points program and was informed that because I used a third party to book my room, I wasn’t able to get points or credit for the stay. That seemed strange because none of the other 3 stays I had at Hilton's over the last 12 months were made directly through the hotel, I used my employers travel agent. And for this vacation, I just used the American Express travel option so I could pay for flight and hotel in one transaction. Based on the way the points were not given, and that I can’t access my receipt, I am led to believe this property only licenses the name Hilton and isn’t a true Hilton property. I haven’t booked a stay directly with the hotel to notice the difference yet though, and I’m thinking I wouldn’t even bother and would stay at the Marriott down the street.
"Must stay here"
Must stay here. Our stay here was fabulous. The resort is located on shore and had very good views of ocean. The pools and hot tubs are situated with very good views of shore line. There are 3 different bars through out the resort. So you will always be hydrated.
"This little location has everything you need"
This location is a great spot in relation to downtown since its out of the hustle and bustle but short cab ride (do not drive downtown, there is no parking...ever). There are multiple eateries at varying prices for all meals. There is a pretty decent size fitness center and lovely tennis courts Multiple nooks and pools to hangout in the sun. The service all over the property is top notch. The small private cove created just for guests is fabulous with so many options of water fun to rent and see the fish. Do not leave this location without having a pina colada at night under the stars or a pitcher of sangria by the pool bar in the sun. AMAZING!!!
My first time in Puerto Rico and my first time staying at a Hilton. Everything was great from my arrival to departure. Everyone was warm and friendly. My family and I arrived late one evening and couldn't find our room keys. Before arriving at the front desk a young man I believe his name was Caleb had asked me if i needed any help with anything. I explained my situation and he walked me over to the front desk and made me new keys. He was very friendly and polite. Upon check out a young man by the name of Israel helped us with our luggage and a taxi he also was very friendly. Love the Caribe Hilton the staff all seem to love what they do. I will return next yr!!!!
