"Great location, nice staff!"
My Husband and I stayed here for a short trip to NYC for our honeymoon! I had read a lot of reviews and decided to give this boutique hotel a try. Before our arrival I spoke with the staff about transportation from Newark to the hotel and a gentleman was very kind and set up a shuttle service along with explicit instructions to ensure a seamless travel day. Upon arrival at around 11 am the staff checked us in early with no issues. The staff was very kind and welcoming. We were positioned on the 7th floor and on the ride up we met a very kind woman who gave us sightseeing tips and congratulated us on our engagement. This kind woman turned out the be the owner of the hotel and she (and the staff) graciously later sent a bottle of champagne and a sweet card up to our room to congratulate us. This was so nice of them to do and really gave us a good feel for the close knit care that the hotel takes with its staff and travelers. We were placed in a corner room that overlooked the rooftop patio and had a pretty view of the city. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were updated and nice as well. The bathrooms offered: shampoo, body lotion and face/body soap. There was a hairdryer in the room as well. One nice touch was that they had dark washcloths that were specifically for ladies removing their makeup. I had to use a white washcloth knowing it may stain. There were robes in the room that were not heavy terry cloth, but more a light summer cotton robe. The hallways were narrow, but that was never an issue. The elevator worked well and we never had to wait on it. Overall this hotel was a great place to stay for a really good price and the location could not be beat! We were able to walk everywhere we wanted and never had to even bother with the subway. We walked to Central Park, Broadway and Times Square each day. My one regret- there was a little Chinese (I believe) restaurant right beside that served buns and we never got one!!! We will go next time we stay at the Carvi! Also, there are several bikes available to rent by the city that are stationed right in front of the hotel if you are into biking around!
"Warm, Friendly and Caring"
The people make this hotel stay a pleasure. Most helpful all the time. Location is perfect for all tourist attractions and nice restaurants. We had an executive room which was quite big and quiet on floor 4. The only gripe would be not enough hanging space in wardrobe for longer items, especially if staying for long stays. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Thank you for making our stay very pleasurable.
"Friendly mid town hotel"
I recently spent a week at the Carvi Hotel. Nicely located on east 55th St, this small hotel has clean and quiet rooms, not large but bigger than one would expect for a hotel in this price range. Lots of restaurants nearby, about a half hour walk from the theatre district. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
"Quiet Location and fairly convenient."
I stayed for 3 nights over Christmas with my son (5). The hotel is quiet and the front desk staff very nice. No general lounge area to speak of. We did not attempt to go to the roof garden in this weather. It was clean and everything worked as expected. The room had a small fridge and there were some items in there. There was a coffee maker as well, and a safe. We travel to NYC twice a year for short breaks and to visit the theatre and stay in various hotels. What struck me is that the noise levels in this one was fairly low. We were on the 6th floor. I can't say that it has a lot of character. We have stayed in other boutique hotels with more pizzazz... but that's not really a criticism.
This hotel is well located and very clean. The room we stayed in was small (typical NYC) but the bed was very comfortable. Walking distance to the subway and Central Park. Good restaurant choices nearby and we would be happy to stay here again.
