"Love this place!"
It's like our own chalet on the lake, except it's massive! My kids loved the heated outdoor pool with its breathe taking views. Location is perfect, not in the main town but close enough that you can pop into but not hear the cars. This place has a beautiful garden and direct access to what is referred to as the beach... the banks of the river.
"An amazing hotel in a stunning setting ."
We recently spent 3 nights at this beautiful hotel . Our flight had been delayed & we contacted the hotel to say that we wouldn't be arriving until about midnight . The staff were amazing , a car was organised to meet us & on arrival at the hotel we were welcomed like old friends . When we woke in the morning & pulled the curtains back the views from every part of our room were just breathtaking . Breakfast was delicious , everything you could possibly wish for & added to this , they changed parts of the buffet every morning so there was always something new to try . Our room was wonderful , we could lay in bed & just soak up the stunning views , the spa bath was huge , there was a sauna in our room & the shower was so funky , everything was great ! At reception we mentioned that we were going to hire a car & that was organised for us without any fuss & at a very competitive rate , it was delivered to the hotel car park two hours later & when we left we were able to drive the car to the airport , it was organised just perfectly for us . We loved our time at Charming Lodge , there are so many activities to enjoy close by & our only regret was that we didn't allow more time there , we didn't want leave . The staff were outstanding , from check in , to the moment we left so welcoming , caring , friendly & efficient . We loved our stay at Charming Lodge .
"Great Views and Location - 3/4 Star rooms - Bad access"
This is a mixed review. The hotel has some very good things and some not so good. You be the judge and make your choice. Location: It is some 7.5 km from the (very run down and ugly downtown Bariloche) and on a gorgeous setting overlooking the Nahuel Huapi lake. Breathtaking views and exceptional surroundings which you can enjoy from your own room and every corner of the property. Access: To get to the hotel, the Council has refused to tar-seal the steep road from the main road to the hotel entrance. It is just about 30 yards but it is very hard to navigate. Dirt rocky road, unstable when it rains. Hotel management advised that they tried to fix it themselves only to be stopped by the red tape of Argentine bureaucracy. Yet they Council doesn't fix it either. This is pretty bad as no bus can go in and vans would have trouble too. We had a rental car and did it OK but it was a hassle. Yet, that is Argentina for you. Ineptitude and corruption rule, in that order. 3. Rooms: They are OK. Definitely not 5 star room standards. More 3.5. Yet the heating works well, and the bathroom has all you need. Good Cable TV system but no HD. A nice kitchen helped and service was efficient and left things clean. 4. Facilities: Wifi was of poor quality. There is a heated pool which we didn't use. Gardens were well appointed, and there were nice terraces from which to enjoy a drink or breakfast. 5. Staff: Very helpful and obliging. The hotel seems well managed and the breakfast on offer (included in your rate) is actually very good. Overall, it is a good place by Argentine standards save for the provisos above.
"If ever a place was aptly named, it's the Charming!"
Love, love, LOVE everything about this place!!!! Where do I start' UNbelievably beautiful setting; large balcony rooms with GORGEOUS views, fireplace, kitchenette and very comfortable bed; awesome bathroom with whirlpool tub, separate in-room sauna and shower with steam. Multi-lingual, SUPER caring and helpful staff (offering everything from organized excursions to helping locate lost bags....thank you, Ivo!!), FABULOUS breakfast (including mimosas), unlimited specialty coffee and, again, those views! Last but not least, Damien does prepare a world famous gin and tonic to enjoy the sunset from the bar balcony (did I mention the fabulous VIEWS'), although Natalia does an impressive "stand in" on his day off😉! In short, there is NOTHING not to love about this place...and we love, Love, LOVED everything about it! Wish I was back there right now😉!
"Patagonia Ski Trip"
I stayed at Charming on 2 separate occasions during a ski trip. The rooms and gourds are beautiful. The staff are courteous and we'll spoken. The restaurant also deserves a 5 star recommendation for food quality and service
