"Free dinner & only 10 min walk from castle & shops "
Overall we really liked our stay here. Nice quiet area with little or no traffic. Town centre and shops all within 10 min walk. Hotel staff were really nice dinner included in price which is a god send in Oslo. Although not fancy dan it was very nice and you could have much as you like.No tea making facility in room but there is a free endless supply of hot drinks in reception. Give you an empty fridge to store what you want. Deffo go back if we visit Oslo again.
"Conveniently located hotel from the train station."
The hotel is an easy walk from Oslo S station. We had had come in on a very early flight and reached at 7am, so we stored our baggage at their room prior to checking in. The receptionist said there would be an available room at noon if we were back by then for an earlier check in. We had made a booking through Expedia, and had no issues. The twin room was nice and cosy, beds were comfortable and the room itself was a decent size - enough space for our luggage bags. Adequate number of power points, and decent lighting. Bathroom was a bit on the small size but it did the trick. Water pressure was good but it was a bit difficult to control the water heating - it would veer from very hot to cool; finding a happy medium was a bit difficult. Complimentary DIY pancakes for tea was a bonus, and enjoyed the 24 hour tea and coffee, although it would be nice to have a kettle in the room in case you wake up at night wanting a drink. Dinner was also good - decent choice of salads, and a two course meal of the chef's choice. The night we stayed was a grilled pollock with pepper sauce, really delicious and fresh! Staff were really friendly and were always ready to answer questions. Check out was really simple as well, smooth and no issues. Location-wise, it was an easy walk to the Opera House, Karl Johan Gate and the station. There are also nearby buses and metro stops which made it convenient for moving around the city. Cons: Room was freezing that night despite the heater being on maximum. Something probably needs to be done about central heating. Tried calling the desk but no one picked up. Also the rooms aren't exactly soundproof, so we were woken up by people coming in after a late night out. Otherwise, it's a really lovely cost hotel. Would definitely consider staying again!
"Everything you need...."
....you'll find at this lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, nice and clean room and what's not to love about tea and coffee facilities 24h'! Breakfast and evening meal are included in the rate and they have a good selection, with both cold and warm dishes. It's just 5 min walk from the city center but still in a quiet position, will definitely come back!
"Freezing cold "
Hotel is decent but in a very rough and boring part of Oslo. When outside temperature falls below zero and snow starts falling you would expect them to turn on the heat. Me and my three colleagues spent the night freezing like crazy. Turning the thermostat up did no good. Unfortunately I have two more night booked later this winter, I'll bring some extra blankets...
"Nice hotel in a poor location"
The hotel was comfy and with very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was fine apart from the terrible overcooked bacon. Nice touch to offer a free evening meal(only 1 choice) and snacks/ pancakes between 15.00-17.00. The location is a let down as Skippergata is the centre of the red light district in Oslo. Lot's of seedy bars and clubs and women on street corners. Easy access to the station and town centre/shops. .
