"Great Hotel in the City Centre"
I stayed for two nights at the Clarion Folketeateret on Storgata in the centre of Oslo and it was really good. I've stayed in a few hotels in Oslo but this was my first time here and it was the best so far! Really friendly, helpful staff and nice decent sized and well fitted rooms with a modern feel. I really liked the fact all the meals were included, not sure if it was just my rate that allowed this, but it was really nice surprise and the lounge restaurant had a good buffet food selection and more lovely staff. The hotel also has a nice lounge area with rooftop terrace. If you are flying into Oslo Gardermoen and staying in the City Centre, then take the train from directly within the airport. It's fast and modern and just one stop (on most services) with trains every 10-15 minutes. The Clarion Folketeateret (and most other hotels) is an easy 5-minute walk from Oslo central train station (Oslo S) whereas a taxi takes way longer and costs 2-3 times that of the train. Highly recommend staying here, I will definItely stay again!
"Easy to like"
Modern and very nice hotel, the location is also good, a short walk from the Central station and the Airport Express Train and a few minutes from the subway station. The room was excellent and the breakfast was one of the best with kind and helpful staff.
"My favourite hotell in Oslo"
Great hotel in the middle of Oslo. Great location for a weekend stay and exploring the city. Close to Grunerløkka and Torggata - both has a lot of good bars and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful done and the food is excellent.
This hotel is just amazing. Fabulous rooms, spotless, fantastic food and really kind and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. The breakfast is the best that I have ever had in a hotel. Great positioning too, 5 mins from the train station.
"Not the best. Not the worst"
I recently stayed in this hotel with my wife for a long weekend. Checking in was easy and the young lady was very pleasant and helpful. To be honest all the staff we came across were pleasant and helpful. The only let down here was on checking out. We handed our cards in and got a receipt. Receptionists did not even ask us about our stay or anything. She handed me my receipt and disappeared. Not even "Thank you for staying with us" We had to move rooms on the first night. It was hotter than a summers night and we even turned all the radiators off and opened windows and adjusted the temp gauge. We just could not get the temp down in this room. It was very very dusty all over and old water had been left in the drinks maker. Also one of the telly did not work and in the bedroom area there is a air con grate which is above the bed that hummm's all night long quit loudly. We were upgraded immediately when I went down to reception and was given a suite. Very spacious. I cannot work out what this hotel is aiming for though. The suite has the very limited clothes hanging are downstairs by the door with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs. As previous threads have mentioned there is very minimal storage space and no safe for keeping valuables in. Also rooms need better brighter lighting. The food though at brekkie was very good with a good choice and the afternoon t and light meal of an evening were also very good. I think a re design of the rooms and some drawers and safes would be a good idea and lot more attention to detail. I also think for booking delux or high the mini bars should be free but that is a personal opinion. Not the best hotel I have been too but not the worst either. Oslo though is a great city
