"Lack of security and understaffed"
One might think that we were unlucky and that it was a one-off event, but my gut feeling says it could have been prevented if the management wouldn’t have prioritized cutting the costs instead of providing proper service. The hotel hosted guests attending a wedding in a venue nearby. Already beforehand I was given the impression that they are understaffed, as it could take up to 10 minutes for the front desk to answer my phone calls and no help was available to carry luggage from taxi to hotel room (it must have been a funny scene as I myself, well dressed for the dinner later the same evening, was shoving ten heavy suitcases on the trolley as my in-laws were checking in). Unfortunately I didn’t pay enough attention to my guests remarks about some of the rooms not having safety boxes (standard equipment in most hotels'). The unimaginable happened as my future grandfather in law was sitting in an almost empty lobby, when two men (homeless' street gangs') entered, one of them turning his chair while the other snatched his handbag containing two sets of passports, large amount of cash and inherited jewels of immeasurable value – all caught on the hotel security camera and later on reviewed by the police. The poor man, with impaired vision, had thought that it was safer for him to have them next to him than to leave them in a closet or drawer in the hotel room. As it later turned out that thefts happen frequently in the Clarion lobby – just the week before there was an attempt that was successively prevented – I ask myself why it seems as if the hotel is cutting out on the necessities, such as making sure that the guests can be safe enough to have a cup of coffee in the lobby without being subject to theft or assault. Why give your international guests the impression that Sweden is a hostile, unsafe country with poor and cheap service' A note for future guests therefore is that by “safety boxes”, as a list of services on the hotel web site, is meant a guarantee of at least having a big room by the reception where you can leave your passport and the statement “The Clarion Hotel Sign offers rooms designed to be accessible to guests … with hearing and visual impairments” should be understood in a literal sense as the lobby and public areas are potentially hazardous! Having stated the above, it should be pointed out that the hotel staff were very kind in their attempts to lessen the damage and the grandparents were given a free stay until they managed to sort out their work with the embassies and rebook their tickets back home. The least that can be done to improve the safety is however to have a box in each room or someone guarding the entrance of the hotel…
"Nice and clean hotel with a great breakfast"
The rooms are clean and not to small. Friendly, efficient staff. Nice bar in the lobby, and the breakfast is excellent! A lot of different food to choose from, which in many cases is organic. Great opening hours if you like sleeping late (closes at 11am).
Good breakfast. Abundant. Scrambled eggs taste a bit funny because they add water. Could benefit from some fresh squized juices. Cleaning missed to replace shampoo conditioner and soap. Otherwise service was giod and hotel is very crntral and different. Receptionist helped me with a health issue. I would come back
"Great hotel in a central location with a brilliant staff !"
This is one of the best hotels you can stay. Its a hop away from Stockholm Central location. The staff in the hotel is absolutely brilliant and they have one of the best breakfast choices (and that too free !!) you will find on any hotel anywhere. The staff is very very friendly, attentive and very helpful with any of the requests. Rooms are slightly smaller but then this is Scandinavia and that too Stockholm city which is expected as its an expensive place for real estate ! The hotel's central location is very helpful for traveling to see all of Stockholm's attractions !
"Good location, spacious rooms, friendly staff"
The hotel is in a good location in the centre of the city, just a few minutes walk from the Central Train Station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and well-cleaned and tidy. The restaurant within the hotel was lovely to dine in - the food is well-cooked and has a good range to offer on the menu. The interior doesn't particularly stand out inside the hotel, but from outside will certainly catch your eye as you walk past. The architecture is worth appreciating. Overall, this is a good hotel to stay in as a tourist thanks to its location both in the city and near the station, and the spacious rooms on offer.
