"Little gem, but quite isolated"
Stayed for 4 nights in late Oct/early Nov with my family. I thought it was a little gem of a hotel although very isolated. I was automatically struck by the modern, sleek, architecture but despite the appearances of being a trendy hotel, I found it very family friendly with kids everywhere (maybe a warning to couples wanting a romantic getaway!). One of the 2 main pools was shallow for kids and there is also a decent sized playroom. What I liked about the resort: First, breakfast was of a high standard (Western and Thai) with a combination of buffet/ a la carte. Our family never got bored of the breakfast. Second, rooms were fairly large and more cozy than luxurious- if the hotel's exterior is modern/sleek, then the rooms have a mediteranean, cozy feel. Third, the complimentary boat rides to the resort's private beach (~20 minutes ride away) is a must and lots of fun. Last, staff were very helpful and responsive. The only issue our family had with the resort was the location (although you probably are aware of this). There is just not much to do in or around Yamu. We usually stay on the other side of the island, around Kamala or Surin, where there are lots of nearby hotels, restaurants, activities etc. Yamu is very isolated in comparison. If you prefer just to lounge around and not leave the resort, then its fine although you might find the 2 restaurants, albeit quite nice, quite limiting.
"Very nice stay in a architectural wonderland"
We arrived in the middle of the night and the ambiance was one of absolute tranquility. The foyer was made for relaxation and in the morning the space was still a joy. We stayed in a Veranda Pool Suite which really had stunning views (the same as tat of the main pool - picture perfect). The weather was a perfect and the whole hotel had water features running the full length of the hotel. It really made the whole Zen vibe come to life. Now being Como, they had great yoga classes, and many free classes like kickboxing, yoga ect (this included an array of children classes) that rotated every day so that you never felt a dull moment. Now, this is more of a secluded location, which was perfect for us, and really built a vibe of relaxation. The public areas, to their bathrooms to our rooms common corridor the bedroom itself, all were impeccable. The service staff were very efficient, polite and quickly responded to any requests we had. The breakfast and other restaurants while not excellent, were good. This is the only reason I can't give it a 5 star (not after coming from the Taj Lake Palace). This is definitely a place I would recommend but the food options could have been more and the service that we received (like getting boxed breakfast extras) were not embraced like they were at Lake Palace or Rayavadee. I realize that these are extras, but to be fair, I have to somehow rank it with the other resorts during our trip that totally outperformed Como on this aspect.
"Perfect escape with perfect views"
This is a very beautiful, calm and relaxing place....perfect for the couple to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The place is surrounded with great views, room is clean and staff is attentive and converse well in english. We will come again.
"Simply the best hotel in Yamu"
We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights and enjoyed very last minute of it. The views from the room were simply spectacular each morning, so make sure you set your alarm so that you can enjoy the sunrise, not to be missed. We had a Bay Suite for the duration of our stay. The facilities are great and the hotel organized a number of day trips for us which we enjoyed, including James Bond Island, and Similan Island on various days. Pool area was lovely and the views from the infinity over the bay are simply one of the best anywhere. Breakfasts were very good each day. Quality as expected for a hotel of this class and price range. We will hopefully be back one day as it was memorable. Also remember to enjoy the hotels private Beach Club if you can, its a 30-40min boat ride out there, but it is absolutely worth going to and its included in the hotel. You can even book a cabana for the day. Bus leave the hotel at 10am each day when the tide allows and returns from the beach at 3pm.
I stayed for 7 nights with my partner during the end of September through the beginning of October. It was great to be at this property and properly relax. My partner and I really did not want for anything. We ate the majority of our meals on site and had no complaints. We also enjoyed the staff, accommodations, and activities provided. We really enjoyed Danny in the restaurant and Am at the bar, however, everyone deserves kudos as the resort is truly exceptional! We certainly look forward to our next visit!
