"Rooms never ready on time - gorgeous hotel & amazing staff"
Traveling for our Anniversary trip.. Unquestionably a gorgeous hotel/property. Staff is superb and some of the best service in the hospitality industry. Our first stay Feb 15-17 we dinner onsite at the teppanyaki dinner experience that was fun and cuisine excellent. Again, the staff at this venue were the wonderful! Unfortunately, our room was not ready till the early evening hours, we waited in the lobby after nearly 24 hours of travel and that is unacceptable for a 5 star property like a Conrad. They graciously apologized and promised to make up for it on our next stay.... which comes to this point, we have just arrived back a few days later after visiting the Gili Islands (which is AMAZING and we recommend you go - will do a review of KoKoMo hotel next). Sadly, when we just returned, the room was once again not ready until nearly 6pm and waited for several hours in the lobby (AGAIN!) Ugh... Somewhere along the lines, their is a massive system failure happening at this Conrad. Two strikes, if a third occurs they are out and we are going to depart from ever staying at Conrad again! We will update and do a seperate review for the next stay here after we finish staying the next couple of nights for those interested to hear if/how Conrad resolves this repeatative mistake.
"Magnificent with astonishing service!"
We splurged and got what the Conrad calls a pool suite. The room was nothing short of spectacular…a beautiful, gracious suite with a real living room, the largest bed I've ever experienced (larger than a king)...The roomy living room also had a small sink, a refrigerator in addition to a mini bar, and a set of dishes and utensils for two. We had no intention of cooking, but all of this came in handy here and there during our nine day stay. The real jewels of the suite, though, were the huge bed and fabulous bathroom and dressing areas…and then, of course, the suite came with its own little backyard and its own swimming pool and a sensational cabana with a fabulous view of the Indian Ocean about 150 yards directly beyond. The grounds of the Conrad are truly splendid, with its own wide ocean beach and many shaded areas with chaise lounges or cabanas for those who want to have a lazy day on the beach. There is also a fabulous separate pool for suite guests (in addition to the mammoth and beautiful main hotel pool)…the separate suite area pool is almost 100 feet long and extraordinary for swimming... lined with wonderful cabanas on either side with excellent poolside meal and drink service. These pools were in addition to our own small private pool and waterfall we had for our own suite. The whole Conrad feels like something out of another era…gracious and with the kind of throwback, friendly service that you may have given up thinking still exists in the world. Every single hotel worker in nine days greeted us as if they were truly thrilled to see us, at any and every time of the day. The spa is sensational and the massage and facial we had were not only excellent but very reasonable by today's standards, in America at least. As I said, our suite was expensive, yet completely worth it by American standards, with a level of service that I believe is truly nonexistent these days in America unless you pay a couple of thousand dollars a day for it. Even then, in my experience, American service simply isn't as natural, friendly, and genuinely delightful as this. It goes beyond good training…the staff are clearly genuinely happy to be working there and happy to make your stay as pleasant as possible. If you're in a suite, you can easily arrange free breakfast at one of a couple of locations. They serve breakfast until 10:30, which allowed us not to have to rush in the morning…and the choice of foods at breakfast was truly remarkable…the only place I've ever experienced that might compare with the Conrad's level of quiet luxury is the sadly departed Kona Village Resort in Hawaii. Bali is a long way away, but the only hotels or resorts in the U.S or Europe that I've ever experienced that could come close to measuring up to the level of the Conrad would cost at least twice what we paid, and probably more. They also offer a free full tea for guests in the suites, and we found that on most days, it served as a wonderful lunch, since we were having breakfast fairly late each morning. The beachside restaurant on the grounds, though, serves truly excellent food…including an expensive, but worth-it "romantic dinner for two" in a sweet, covered, beautifully decorated beach kale, again, with service which is incomparable. I could go on and on but can only say that the Conrad was one of the most pleasant surprises I have ever encountered, especially after staying, as I just had for five nights, at another large, sprawling old-fashioned resort about a half an hour away, also on the beach. That was pleasant enough in some ways, but couldn't hold a candle to the service, location, and quality of food at the Conrad.
"Good resort for families"
The hotel is in the Nusa Dua area which is 30-40 mins from the airport and has many resorts one after another. We strayed here few nights with my family. We had two rooms, both on ground floor and directly opening into the pool. The room was the highlight of our stay. Breakfast was good with a fair bit of choice to suit all tastes. Anyone can easily hire a car from any of the many taxi operators outside the resort. There are also good cheap massage places outside where you can a 90 min massage for $10! Recommended.
"Excellent hotel with good service "
Just back from a great two week stay at this hotel. The staff are all very helpful and courteous. The various restaurants on site serve a good selection of international dishes and the breakfast offering is excellent. Our first week we met up with our family and loved the garden and beach pool area leading to the shallow water which was perfect for young children and parents. Only slight criticism is that if you do not book direct, we had a good flight/hotel package with Trailfinders, you are not entitled to free Wifi . We were offered one weeks complimentary free wifi when we asked.
"A great relaxing getaway. Conrad Bali is PERFECT for it"
I recently spent 5 nights here, and I wish I could have stayed longer! I spent the first 2 days exploring Bali, and the last 2 days relaxing at the resort. The garden and ocean view from my patio was the perfect backdrop for catching up on reading, sipping on a glass or 2 of whiskey, and just doing as little as possible. 1. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. There were 2 locations. The main restaurant is open air, and although a great place to enjoy breakfast, it can become quite warm for some. But they do have fans blowing. 2. The pool setting was nice and again, relaxing, although the pool itself is not very deep at all. Although I did not utilise the beach at all, there seemed to be vendors for jet skis, para sailing etc walking around. 3. The grounds seem to be meticulously kept. 4. There is not too much in the area, but if you walk for 30 mins in either direction, you will find other resorts, local restaurants, massage/spa, grocery stores, and various shops selling souveniers
