"Great room with lo's of space.."
I was here on a business trip for a week.(Dutch Trade Mission) The room was very big (68m2) and nice and clean Breakfast was in the Conrad Hotel and lo's of choices. The staff remembered my cappuccino every morning and didn't ask me if I wanted coffee. They just brought me the coffee. Staff everywhere in the hotel was trying to give you the best experience and they succeeded. Also very helpful in expelling the taxi drivers where to go as my meetings where not always easy to reach...
"Convenient but a tired disappointed"
From my experience the property can be summarized to: Pro: -The hotel is conveniently located -Great bus service to sky train station -Nice gym Con: -Although the hotel is from 2003 it looks and feels very old. Could benefit from some refreshments. -The hotel appears to have transformed itself from a prestigious business hotel to a tourist hotel catering to charted bus tours. -The Diplomatic bar feels like a bad movie set from the 70's, although prices are definitely not. -Breakfast options are limited, it's very cramped and busy, and is messy in the morning and not a relaxing place. Service is very weak and the coffee quality a disappointment. Rather go to the neighboring Cafe Tartine for a great coffee and breakfast. -If you stay at the "Residence" floor of the hotel they don't recognize Diamond members and you don't have lounge access. The hotel didn't live up to the expectations of a Conrad branded hotel (compare with any Conrad in neighboring countries) and in my opinion it's a disgrace that they are even allowed to brand themselves "Conrad". Next time I'd rather stay at the newly renovated Plaza Athenee conveniently located between Conrad and the sky train station or at the new Indigo Hotel located next door. For some added luxury I would chose the St Regis.
"Love, Love, The Conrad Hotel"
This is my second time staying at the Conrad in Bangkok. Ten years ago I stayed at the hotel since I was on my own for a business trip. This time around my family and I stayed at the Residences. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and very functional. Customer service is excellent! Shout out to Haneem of the front desk who made our trip even easier and more memorable. The hotel is ideally located...best area in Bangkok on Embassy row...two doors down from the US Embassy. It is right next to a 7 Eleven which was terribly convenient! All the Thai food we could think of was right there. It is walking distance to the Central Embassy Mall which is pretty high end. Good for shopping those really expensive brands and getting your waxing and nails done in style. It is about a 5 to 10min walk from the station and one station away from Central World Mall that is supposedly the 6th largest mall int he world. All my favorite brands were there: Zara, Mango, H&M, Forever 21 to name a few.... Finally the hotel sits right in front of a small mall that had everything you need: a grocery store, a salon, lots of restaurants including a Subway and Burger King plus a lovely bookstore! I got 11 new books on this trip! I am not sure how many more trips I will make to Bangkok but will definitely only stay at the Conrad :)
We made a mistake to book a one bedroom suite instead of 2. The unprofessional n rude receptionist charged us extra US$50 per person per night without anything provided, not even a towel!!!! She told us to pay her even if our kids-the extra guests just wanna VISIT our room. Manager is kind enough to offer us reasonable price to upgrade our room n a dish of chocolates with an apology was sent to our room at night. BUT the same receptionist pointed at us n talked behind us to her colleagues when we checked out really offended us n scared our kids badly. WE WERE SO REGRETED NOT TO STAY AT THE HOTEL INSTEAD.
