In my opinion, resorts don't get any better than this. Our dinner at Jahn restaurant was one of the best experiences I have ever had. We stayed in Villa 110 and the location was excellent. However, next time I wouldn't pay for the upgrade to be beach front. The Villa and pool were of an exceptional standard. Service was exceptional. Drinks were expensive (coke AUD$8 and beer $12) from the mini bar so we hired a driver from reception for 500 bht and he took us to the local 711 supermarket and we stocked up on beer and soft drinks for a fraction of the price. The sunset cocktails were lovely and we looked forward to them every day. Well done Conrad Koh Samui on an unforgettable luxury experience and I certainly hope to go there again.
"Second visit to this property, and things have changed."
Room 113, which was a lovely villa, within walking distance to breakfast and also the main pool area, as well as the tiny strip of a beach. We came the first year this beautiful place opened, and the amount of growth from the plantings around the hotel have made it feel more lush, and a bit more private, although some should be trimmed back as much of the beautiful view has also been cut back on. The staff is still top rate, always pleasant, always accommodating, and friendly. The lobby is still a stunner, and one that will really awe you the first time you see it. A few things have started to show wear and tear, such as chairs at the pool areas, needing a coat of paint to hide the chips and scratches. The mini islands that float just off the beach had cigarette butts (many) mixed in with the very little sand that remained. Some of the walls could definitely use painting, although with the bright Thai sunshine, that would be a monumental task. The biggest problem that the hotel now faces, is the booking of wedding and private parties. The last two nights we stayed at this hotel, the pool area became off limits because of private functions. The worst being a wedding that closed the pool and beach from 2pm, to 7pm. Now, I am quite aware that everyone has a private pool at their villa, but because of the sun setting on this side of the island, there is no possible way to have any shade at your villa after 12 noon, until the sun sets at 615pm or so. The wedding and the private party were very large functions, and I am in no way criticizing the Conrad from making money. However, people spend quite a sum of money to stay at this resort, not to mention the cost and time it takes to travel there from much of the world. A heads up at check in, or an email ahead of time would avail people to make other plans to be other places during their stay. To be escorted off the small beach and pool area so a wedding could be set up is far from acceptable of a resort of this caliber. Most Conrad hotels at beach locations have plenty of room for extra functions. Maldives, Bali, Bora Bora, all come to mind. However the Conrad Koh Samui is smaller which makes it so wonderful. To exclude the public areas for any amount of time to paying guests is not a good way to do business. If weddings and other private parties make so much money, then make it a requirement that the party holding the event rent out the entire resort. We heard much grumbling from other guests as we were told that the pool was to close at 2pm. Now, my rant is over, and this in no way should prevent you from coming to this fantastic property, as in many ways it beats the Conrad Rangalli Island in the Maldives. Just be sure to ask ahead of time if public areas will be off limits during any part of your stay, and head to Chaweng for the beaches on that particular day. We have stayed in two different villas, and toured the entire property. Every room is wonderful. If you are not a pool or beach person, stay on the top of the hill with a room n the 500 or 600 block. If you have children, and wish to spend time at the main pool and beach, stay in the 100 or 200 block.
"Incedible resort and highly recommended for a luxury experience"
Booked on luxury escapes and the package lived up to everything offered and included. Highly recommended resort for an amazing holiday. We were so spoiled with picture perfect sunsets in an incedible location ❤❤
"Heaven on Earth"
We splashed out and stayed in the Royal Ocean villa. It had the biggest private pool I've ever seen. The views are incredible. Unforgettable sunsets. We only spent 2 nights as we were on a tight schedule but we never left the room. You really don't need to. Transport round the resort was easy and efficient. Fitness centre was small but adequate. Evening cocktails during happy hour and sunset near the pool bar were nice. There was entertainment on the night we were there. A fire dancer and later in the evening, an acoustic singer. It added to the ambiance and Conrad vibe. Staff were friendly and my Thai was certainly not as good as their ability to speak English. We ate at Jahn (about £250 for a couple). It was fine dining. Food was ok but really pleased they made an effort to recognise our anniversary with a celebratory cake. A lovely touch. Having stayed at the Conrad Rangali Maldives last year, this comes very close to paradise. Will definitely be coming back here. Would thoroughly recommend the royal ocean suite villa. Even for 1 or 2 nights at the end of your stay.
"Solitude and beauty"
Our stay was amazing, we needed to get away and relax with time to think and reflect. The room was a bit tired but still extremely well appointed (possibly the best we have ever experienced) a completely uninhibited and amazing ocean view. Sunsets from our infinity pool...or the bath....or the bed....or the shower. The 2 standard restaurants were ok but not super. There is a premium restaurant which is good but expensive.
