"Quiet and convenient"
We booked for our one night stay based on brand alone. We were not disappointed in our choice. The location is excellent. The hotel is south of St. James Park in the heart of Westminster. It is an easy walk to the Houses of Parliament to the East, Victoria Station to the West, and the Royal Parks to the north. St. James Park Tube station is directly across the street, and there are usually a couple of cabs waiting on Broadway to pick up fares. We were booked into a King Superior and upgraded to a King Deluxe. The room was on the small side--but this is London, after all--but very well appointed. The bed was comfortable, the desk offered a full array of power points in both UK and North American configurations (as well as USB points). The cupboard door housing the mini bar is attached to the fridge door, which conveniently offers all the chilled product even when you're just hunting for a Nespresso capsule or tea bag. Closet space is plentiful. The bathroom offers a separate shower stall, with an intuitive selection between rain shower and handheld shower. Temperature and pressure were both excellent. There is a separate WC, adn the main bathroom offers a bathtub and sink. Bathroom amenities were plentiful (and the usual options of Conrad products are available at this loation). The Executive lounge on the 1st floor is well appointed. We used it both for evening cocktails and breakfast. There were only two minor drawbacks to our stay: 1) There is neither a teddy bear nor a rubber duck--two Conrad amenities we enjoy at Asian properties. 2) The Hilton policy of restricting HHonors amenities for certain third party bookings. The first is simply the loss of a "nice to have". The second almost prompted a, "But I am a Diamond Guest" (search for the YouTube video if you are not familiar with this expression), but the clerk obligingly extended Executive Lounge access to us for the stay. (And a lesson learned for future bookings!) This Conrad offers a solid, contemporary feel. You won't have beautiful views from the rooms, but you'll have a quiet and restful night!
"Great location, nice rooms"
We stayed here in August and the location is great! Right across the street from the tube and only a few blocks to Westminster in one direction and Buckingham Palace in the other. Easy to walk to major sights as well as to get around the entire city. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. It has been a while since i stayed in a hotel with a doorman! The room was comfortable and had plenty of space. There is a nice restaurant attached to the hotel and there are many more within walking distance. The bar is nice and quiet. highly recommend a gin and tonic!
"Nice hotel at a fantastic location!"
My wife and I stayed at the Conrad St. James for three days in late November during the Thanksgiving break. The best thing about the hotel is the location: a quick walk to Westminster in one direction as well as Buckingham on the other. One of the entrances to the St. James Underground station is right opposite this hotel which makes getting anywhere through the tube very fast! There is a Pret a Manger pretty much adjacent to this property which is great. The room interiors and service was quite nice. The rooms have no view at all. The bathroom shower area can use some improvement since the water from the stall would flow over to the rest of the floor if the door isn't shut in the just the right way. This water-all-over-the-bathroom issue happened to us on a couple of days - thankfully the floor mats provided would absorb all the water and didn't cause a huge problem. The breakfast buffet spread is quite limited and didn't change at all. So this has a lot of scope for improvement.
"Fantastic property with even more fantastic staff"
Incredible service in a property that is accross the steeet from the St James tube stop, Spacious rooms, great breakfast and friendly and attentive staff. Go out of your way to make your stay special.
On the second night of a two day stay. I must say that this hotel just keeps improving from being already very high standard. The rooms are of course great as other reviewers have noted, but what really makes this property so special is the people and their absolute desire to deliver a great experience to guests. Everyone is so friendly and all the staff seem able to name check you individually, which makes it feel more intimate ( and boutique- although I hate using that phrase). For me it feels much more like staying in a 'small luxury hotel property'. The team go out of the way to be engaging and when travelling alone on business that is a really good interaction to experience. It feels like you are being welcomed back as a house guest rather than a hotel guest. Keep up this standard!!
