"Great location. Helpful staff"
This hotel was the ideal place to finish off my stay in Rio. The door staff(Jose Carlos)&kitchen staff(Viviene)were quite obliging. The reception staff were helpful too with information for solo travellers. The rooms were kept clean. The door key played up a bit but I always managed to get in and out. It was close to the beach which is one of the reasons why i stayed at this hotel. The wi fi worked most of the time. But on the whole i would definetly stay at this hotel again.
"Nice room, great location"
We stayed at the Copa Sul hotel 4 nights during our time in Rio. We were very pleased with the accommodation. Nice, clean and spacious room. Large bed. Modern bathroom. Air con a little noisy however it didn't bother us too much. Wifi isn't the best, it seems to cut out often and we did have issues logging back in. Large selection available at the buffet breakfast. Great location - only one street away from the beach. Bank is located next to the hotel if you need to get money out. Staff were friendly and always willing to assist. Make sure you do the favela tour when staying in rio it's definitely an eye opener! Overall we had a great stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend to other travellers staying in Rio.
"A nightmare "
Our stay in Rio was seriously dampened by this hotel. If you want to get any sleep at all stay away. I'll start with the WIFI. I'm not even sure why they bother. You have to first connect to the wifi then go to a special URL, which only works 1 out of 10 times and then when you ARE connected you don't even know it because the Internet is so utterly slow that your notifications take 20 mins to come through anyway. Oh, they also don't give you any instructions on HOW to connect to the wifi so you spend half of your first few hours catching the elevator back and forth from your room to reception to find out. THEN every time you leave the hotel or sometimes just lock your phone, the whole process starts again. Every day we would waste at least an hour turning our wifi on and off and reloading the URL which they finally gave us a few days into our stay. Then, the noise! Excusing the fact that the windows are so thin you'll be tricked into thinking you've left them open every night. You also have the staff who seem to scream at each other all day through the hall and their phone which must be linked to reception rings excessively, so loudly you would think it is in the room with you. The roof is also thin, and we were unfortunately sleeping under a small herd of elephants in high heels. Then to really top things off the elevators broke which meant walking up and down 10 flights of stairs to get to our room. The air-conditioning unit was something from the 50's which did nothing except drown out the sounds from the street. Our room keys would also randomly unprogram themselves so we would have to talk back down the 10 flights of stairs (in the dark) to reset them and then walk back up again. We also came home at 10.30pm to find a cleaner in our room which was weird' The positives are the location (although if we did Rio again we would stay on Ipanema) and the modern rooms (aside from the aircon, I don't understand why they kept it).
I loved the hotel! Friendly staff and very helpful. Closed to the beach. Very clean. Will choose to stay there again. Virgilio at the reception desk was very pleasant. Convenient location next to bank and shops. Busy nightlife but relaxing atmosphere.
The location alone makes this place worth it. Only 2 blocks from Copacabana. Many nice restaurants and good shopping around the area. The room was surprisingly spacious - it felt like a master suite, and exudes a cozy atmosphere. Breakfast buffet was good - try the hotdog sauteed in onions. Yum! The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. A true value for money. I would stay here again.
