"A hotel that is functional"
We stayed for 2 nights on a trip into Aberdeen. The hotel location is close to the city centre but beware, the parking experience is not for the faint hearted. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly but it is getting a bit long in the tooth. We ate in during the visit and the food and service was ok. It is one of those places where there was nothing really to complain about and yet nothing which endears itself to you. Functional.
"Wow, will be back. "
Got a last minute deal, have never been to this hotel before but will def be back. Big room, bath and shower, toiletries, robes, iron, kettle and tea/coffee. Lovely staff too. There is parking but you need to book when you book the room. There is a multi story across the road too. Close to the city centre, we parked up and walked everywhere.
"Great location great food"
Second time I've stayed at the copthorne and its much improved from the last time (although that was good as well) the food in the hotel was lovely and the staff are a credit to this hotel all in all great stay great location would definitely stay again
"Nice hotel, shame about the breakfast :("
Nice looking hotel, a granite exterior with an welcoming foyer with a comfortable waiting area. Receptionists were all well presented, polite and very informative. There is limited car parking space under the hotel as well as parking across the road at Chapel Street car park for which you'll have to pay a fee. The room was nice and a decent size. Free wifi in the rooms was absolutely fine for our needs, and a great feature. We had a King size bed which was as advertised. There were a lack of wall sockets in the room, where there was they were not very accessible. The "seating area" was a small chair shoved in the corner. The room was quite dark due to the small window and city centre location of the hotel, this did not bother me. The bathroom was nice, marble everywhere although the water pressure was fairly low and we were only given one set of toiletries for two guests which meant some rationing of shower gel and shampoo had to take place! The room was well-equipped with hairdryer for the missus and (one) shower cap and cotton buds. Now this leads me to my main gripe about the hotel, we were offered breakfast at £15 for 2 persons. I don't know if it's just me, but it seriously affects my stay when I when I pay extra and for what I got in return was quite a major let down. The Breakfast was laid out so you could help yourself, there was little fresh orange left, and wasn't exactly chilled. The Bacon wasn't really the best, it was more gristly than meat. The fried eggs had been sat in the tray for quite a while and resembled(and tasted) like rubber, the black pudding was dried out and tasted like chimney soot. The baked beans were cold and the coffee well....I'll not comment. Had I known how poor the standard of breakfast would have been I'd have walked 5 mins into town and grabbed a breakfast for half the price at Witherspoons! I did enjoy our stay at the Copthorne and I would stay there again but the main letdown was the breakfast, In future should I stay I'd give the breakfasts a wide berth, for £15 for 2 I easily say this was not value for money.
"A nice hotel"
Stayed here for 2 nights. We stayed on the third floor. Nice and clean rooms. No noise from the halls or outside. The breakfast was okey, a regular english breakfast standard. The staff was nice and helpful. A bit of a walk from Union Street, but that was okey. A maximum 5 minutes walk.
