Just after staying here for 2 nites and I will never stay again. The lifts are squeaky & about 50yrs old & hav the feeling that you are going 2 get stuck in them. The room itself was a nightmare. The heating was on full blast & the temperature controller was broke. The 1st nite we were both awake due to the stuffiness of the room. When we requested the nxt day for this 2 be fixed the only way was to turn the heating off completely. The bed was like a trampoline & very uncomfortable. If de other person moved so did you! So much 4 a rested weekend! The room is very dated & needs an update into the 21st century. No air conditioning but instead a make shift fan dat was very noisy. An extension lead stuck to the wall instead of sockets everywhere. How can dis hotel be still open' The only positive is its location but even at that u cudnt leave ur window open as it's located on a main road. When we highlighted our problems to reception dis morning on leaving, it was obvious he didn't care & had already listened to many complaints before.
"Very pleasant stay"
Stayed here last night.what a very pleasant stay.yes there is building work going on everywhere around hotel, but that is not there fault,it's called change and development which they can not be blamed for and it won't last forever.on entering hotel and going to reception staff couldn't do enough for you and very friendly.rooms very clean and lovely big comfortable clean beds.hotel is a very desirable location only a stones throw away for Most places.Had breakfast very very reasonable ,everything clean and again very friendly staff.yes mayb it could do with a bit of up dating but it was by far one of the most nicest and reasonable price than some of the hotels that I've stayed in.plan on staying in Birmingham again so and will be booking in here when we stay.well done to all staff for great customer service
"Great place to stay."
As per the other reviews the work being done in the city does make it a nightmare to get to but that's not the hotels fault. It would be the same for any hotel in that area. On check in staff were friendly and helpful and it was very quick. Room was lovely clean and well equipped. Bathroom was a good size and clean. The noise from outside wasn't too bad at all quite interesting watching some of the huge lorries trying to get in and out. Had room service, which was quick and food was great. Bar area was friendly and comfortable and well stocked. Had breakfast in room which was excellent. All the staff we encountered were friendly and polite. Would definitely stay there again.
The location of the hotel is the only thing going for it. The reception is very grand but as soon as you go in the lift you go back in time! About 50 years- it's shocking how it's a 4* hotel. The level we stay on smelt of old smoke then when we got into the room it was clean (well the bathroom was again old) tidy but our view was of an empty building site- thank goodness it was Christmas and there was no one on site. We only stayed for one night and in the morning when we were leaving we were absolutely horrified by the dust in the room overnight as you can see in the photo. The park is the only other plus.
Locations good, and not badly priced. Compared to other hotels I've stayed in its starting to look dated and needs TLC. Room was clean and comfortable wifi good to limited on the stations, but could tell that it's time money is spent on moderinisation' Staff on reception helpful and pleasant as well as the guy on the bar' Couldn't fault. Staff in the restaurant nowhere were slow and clueless. Ordered tea. 20 minutes later it arrived as about to leave. Food was hit and miss aswell. Ordered Chinese and to say the rice had be microwaved a number of times is an understatement. Being picky but just telling t as it is. Would I stay here again ' Yes but only for short stays.
