"Worst hotel meal ever "
Just suffered the worst meal I've ever had in a hotel. Wasn't too optimistic about food so we went for a burger as you surely can't get a burger wrong. Both burgers were cremated, chips almost black. They asked us to keep burgers while they got fresh chips as we'd not discovered how bad the burger was at that point. Fresh chips arrived rock hard and raw. Apparently chef had gone to check on a function while our meal was wrecked. Breakfast nearly as bad, water sloshing around in scrambled eggs and then the same in hash browns, raw in middle but soggy from water in dish. If you're staying here eat out.
Nice clean room in good condition, but a little dated in decor. Lively midweek as it's used as a base for the national grid tradesmen. Service with a smile but expensive for the area and what it offers. Would come again for business but not for a break. Merry hill shopping centre 2min away but all local bars and restaurants have seen better days and are empty. All in all clean and quite.
"Great Location, excellent price "
Stayed here last night as we were seeing a comedy show near by. For £65 on a Saturday night it was great!! The pool facilities a were good bonus. We ordered room service quite late and although the meal Didn't come with everything stated the lady on reception this morning was quick to discount the bill for us. It's in an excellent location for shopping, with a shopping centre about 5 minutes walk away. The wine prices in the bar are a little steep (£10 for a glass of Sauvignon) but it was nice wine so we don't mind paying! All in all grey stay.
"Lovely hotel "
Visited here on a family trip to West Midlands Safari Park. We paid for an upgraded room as that's all that was available, which allowed us 2 free alcoholic drinks and 2 snacks. Rooms were nice, pool was nice although abit cold and breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. There is also a fridge in the room which was very helpful for milk for the kids etc. Close to Sainsbury's and restaurants.
"Staff good but hotel dated, not what I would expect for £100 per night!"
At almost £100 per night I was expecting good things from this hotel, but it was a bit of a disappointment if I'm honest. The room was really dated with old fashioned furniture and a divan bed on wheels which moved every time I attempted to sit on it! The room was really warm with no ability to change the temperature. There was a large stain on the carpet, marker pen on the dressing table and a bath which was cast iron and where the emamel had chipped off there had been an attempt to fill in. On a positive note the staff were good, polite and attentive. I've had loads of room service over the years in hotels and on the whole found it to be really disappointing this was not the case at the Copthorne, I ordered room service twice and the food quality was really good, and again the staff fab.
