"Birthday Weekend away"
We stayed here as a treat for my birthday with another couple. We booked direct and upgraded to a suite. It was amazing, two large rooms and the bed was so big we could lose each other in it. We had complimentary champagne upon arrival and also vouchers for bar snacks and drinks. Breakfast was extremely good with lots of choice and plenty of it. Room was very comfortable and clean, ours was overlooking the canal and was lovely. would definately recommend and book direct with the hotel for better prices than anywhere on the internet.
Very nice spacious rooms a little dated but all the Mod cons you would need ... access to the swimming pool was a define plus .. breakfast was plentiful..staff friendly and polite. . Overall a nice stay
"Good Afternoon Out"
Visited on a lunch time. Celebrating my birthday with 3 friends. We had the afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco. The venue looked lovely as it was all dressed for Christmas. Sandwiches, cakes very good. Would definitely recommend this venue.
"Better than expected."
Stayed here for 2 nights. When we arrived we found out we had been upgraded. The upgrade included robes and slippers in the room, 2 free drinks each which also included a snack each to! Either crisps and nuts or hot snacks like onion rings etc.. the upgrade also included a late checkout of 2pm and free breakfast for both mornings. We arrived at around 11:45 knowing we couldn't check in until 2pm but we wanted to make them aware that my car was in their carpark and we were desperate for the loo! Once we let them know we were there they told us our room was already made up for us! So that was a bonus. We found out we had a room on the top floor and facing the canal which was lovely. The room was a decent size, bed was very comfy, the bathroom was so nice but more importantly the shower was out of this world! The power of it was amazing.. so much so our shower at home now feels terrible (normally it's the other way round!) Not only could we see the canal from the room but we could also see the shopping centre too. The shopping centre is the main reason we stayed here and we weren't disappointed.. it's huge! Has everything and more that we needed. Back to the hotel, we took full advantage of the spa downstairs.. the only slight downside was that this is also open to public so on Saturday afternoon it was full of children screaming.. but Saturday night about an hour before it closed we were pretty much the only ones there. Again Sunday it was very quiet and Monday morning before we left we were the only ones there! The hot tub is amazing, the sauna and steam room are rather small but do the job and the swimming pool itself is around 15m I believe. The changing rooms are OK and you get a free locker and towel too. Saturday night just as we were about to get to sleep there was a racket of music.. I looked around and couldn't see any bars as such just a pub so didn't think it was from there.. the only thing I can think of is the party building next door possible' But I waited until 11pm expecting music to get quieter but if anything it got worse. I shut the windows and could hear the music nearly word for word and as for the bass.. wow. I literally barely slept. I think the music stopped at around 3am. This really put me off of the hotel and next day I went to buy some ear plugs just incase! However Sunday night I slept like a baby with no music. The breakfast was lovely! We went down at around 7:30 am on Sunday and were the first ones there. The chef didn't turn up so the manager was cooking everything and what a good job he did too! The breakfast was buffet style with everything you could want in a fry up also pastries and fruit. All in all I would probably stay again.. but maybe not on a Saturday night or request a room that's out of the way'
"One night stay."
My overnight stay was close to Xmas and the hotel was packed with private parties which caused very long cues at the bar. In the end I found it much quicker to retreat back to my room and order room service which included a service charge of £3.00 so a pint of beer was now costing me £6.50 all because the hotel as a very small bar and the hotel management could not foresee this problem and make alternative arrangements.
