"great staff , very happy"
I booked a late stay since our plane was coming around 9 PM, since hurricane Otto was around , our flight was diverted to Managua , Nicaragua and we landed even later. We got to the hotel and they informed us that the room we booked was not available since I had requested a non smoking and a previous guest had smoked i. the front desk men working there were really professional and respectful and since the whole extent of the hurricane was not know, they suggested we stayed one more day instead of venturing on the highway next morning , not knowing if there were mud slides, fallen trees or flooding on the roads towards Quepos. Next morning continued raining and the hurricane was moving north and at times the internet connection and phones were not working , so we took their advice and stayed one more night, again , they were really good to us since they allowed us to stay in that better, bigger room for much less than we would have paid online. Next morning when we were ready to leave, they called a hotel near the area we were going to find out the road conditions for us and also gave us a map they have in store in order to access the route we were using without any problems, We are forever greatful to the people of the Alajuela Courtyard for all their kindness and help and we will continue to go there anytime we are back in Costa Rica ( which is every year), even though our previous hotel was closer to our rental car, I think we owe them this minimum , Dr G
"Great location for airport"
First night stay in Costa Rica for very late arrival. Very friend staff, checked in very quick. One thing I hate stay the Marriott courtyard, because no breakfast included. The Walmart is just nearby to get everything needed and breakfast.
"Costa Rica trip"

"Courtyard Marriott Alajuela is exemplary!"
We had a delayed flight due to Hurricane Otto. We were tired from fighting with Volaris and getting nowhere. I booked off my tablet and we were picked up for free at the airport and upon arriving, we were treated like royalty. The guest services manager Nicolas heard about our dilemma (it was Thanksgiving...) and made us feel like we were home. Our room was great, and they have wine tasting in the lobby from 5p to 6p with cheese. Not skimpy pours either. Nicolas reminded us we can have a late check out, and asked if we were hungry. He treated us to a chifritas meal (traditional Costa Rican fare) and it was delicious, served by Humberto who was super accommodating and helpful! We fretted as it was late and the place we wanted to go to was closed. We savored every bite, and chatted with other guests in the lobby about their vacations here. Upon entering our room, we were treated to a small bottle of wine and a cheese plate, brought by Kenneth, super nice man! They tried to help with Volaris as much as he could. Breakfast was great, and again we were treated like royalty by Humberto and Maria. We got a discount on second breakfast, I'm a reward member so first one was free. Orlando helped us with some liquid refreshments later and was so happy and courteous, like family. We couldn't ask for a better experience. We truly were blown away. We have never been treated this well, and needed that being so stressed by Volaris and missing the holiday. We will definitely come back. This place rocks!
free sjo airport shuttle. very convenient upon arrival. just a $3 uber ride to alajuela. the trip to san jose is 40 minutes or so and during rush hour and its a mess. there is a walmart right next to the hotel. the hotel will convert $20 per day only but go to walmart for currency conversions. the breakfast was sub par. go to alajuela for breakfast.
