This is a clean Marriott in a great location. Right across the highway from the Multiplaza and about a 3 minute drive to Avenida Escazu. Hotel was great about finding my wife and I a good cab driver for our early AM flight.
"Tea Drinkers, Hone Your Begging Skills"
Stayed here 5 nights and kept wondering why tea drinkers must bother wait staff for a cup of hot water. There is no hot water source on the coffee bar....can not there be a thermos carafe on the coffee bar or some other means of getting a cup of hot water other than having to act like Oliver Twist' (Please, sir, may I have another cup of hot water') Aside from this very annoying weirdness, it was a fine place to stay. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and there was a trove of good eating places in the mini-mall area across the street from the hotel. The hotel is located on a busy highway, so there is a constant droning of traffic, but with the window closed and a/c going, it didn't disturb my sleep. The gym is small but has good equipment and appears to be cleaned regularly. My room (#308) was fairly dated but certainly clean. One charming "extra": the hotel is near the nesting site of a troupe of coatimundis (pizotes locally), and one or more occasionally loped across the parking lot and grounds looking for nosh. Apparently, iguanas sometimes make an appearance, but I saw none during my stay. One last comment: it is expensive ($25) to get a taxi into central San Jose (museums), but if you are only interested in the huge nearby shopping mall, the Courtyard provides hourly shuttle service, and the return ride is only $2 (I gave the driver $5 for his trouble...traffic is horrible).
Upgraded courtyard in San Jose. About thirty minute ride from the airport. Starbucks and many restaurant and bar choices in the Itskatzu plaza connected to the courtyard. Rooms were nice and included a refrigerator. Inexpensive but hey, you knew it wasn't a resort. Overall good choice in safe area.
I stayed at this Courtyard 1/2017. Crystal checked me in, and even though I was early for check in, she went out of her way to accommodate me. Johanna at the front desk translated my Mapquest directions from Spanish to English - LifeSaver. The room was a bit chilly for me so I doubled up on the thin comforters - the next day the housekeeping staff anticipated my need and left for me a heavy duvet. Way to make a customer feel welcome. Also great location with lots of American dining nearby.
"Fabulous Hospitality! Great Value!"
We have been home for over a week and we are still talking about the wonderful service that we received at the Marriott Courtyard Escazu! We planned a last-minute trip over the holidays to San Jose to visit family and enjoy the many sites outside of San Jose. Arriving with virtually no plans, the front desk evening attendant Griselle handled all of our tour reservations. She did an amazing job! She truly embodied service with a smile! We advised her what were interested in doing and she happily went out of her way to explore all alternatives and book the tours for us. I highly recommend this since driving in San Jose is challenging and driving to the outskirts can be treacherous with many winding roads which are not always in the best conditions! For tours where Griselle knew we would need towels, she had these packed and waiting for us in the morning before we left. I cannot say enough about the outstanding service we received there! The rooms themselves are rather large and well appointed well all I don't see expected amenities provided in the courtyard. There are various restaurants and a large upscale multi plaza shopping center less than a quarter mile from the hotel. We made this hotel our central hub and returned here daily to see family in the area. It was well situated and there were plenty of tours to zip lining in San Ramon which are great highly recommend about an hour and a half away, White water raft thing in Rio Pacuare, La Paz Waterfall also an hour and a half away. We also went to the Arenal volcano and the natural thermal waters of Tabacon. All beautiful memorable experiences for us and our sons ages 15 through 22 arranged by Griselle! Thank you again for you for exceeding our expectations!
