"Great Modern Property"
The Good. Comfortable rooms. Comfy beds. Beds are standard Euro Small. Will fit two pretty snug. The metro is a 5 minute walk (circumvent the property and walk about 2 blocks). Gamla Stan is like the next stop. There's also a metro bike (citibike) station across the way and you can ride a bike to downtown. The staff is super nice. And the building looks fairly new. The bad: My only complaint is that I felt we were far from all the action. And the neighborhood offered limited nightlife/restaurant options. At least I didn't see anything nearby that was poppin or energetic. Since we spend most of our time in Gamla Stan it just felt like we should have stayed closer to it.
This hotel isn't the Ritz Carlton so isn't comparable. However, our stay was excellent. The price for three nights was about the same as one night in the center. Also, we had the Stockholm Pass plus travel card so subway to/from attractions was fairly easy. If budget isn't an issue just take a taxi to/from airport and then use public transport remainder of time. We considered renting a car but are glad we did not (from a convenience perspective would have been a major pain). We took the hop on/hop off bus tour (also using the Stockholm Pass). The hotel front desk were very helpful with the transport and our taxi to the airport was on time and good. Breakfast was good with lots of options (much better than a normal Courtyard, perhaps comparable to a regular Marriott) and the room was reasonable (again, isn't the Ritz but the hotel isn't too old or out of date). Didn't have an executive lounge for Platinum members but we didn't notice that too much - front desk provided free bottled waters especially given that we didn't take the alcohol they were offering from the bar. No waters in the room. We would stay again if back in Stockholm!
"Not that Central, Marriott Proffesionalism Missing"
We stayed here for 3 nights on our vacation stay in Stockholm Sweden seeing all the great reviews, but honestly for a vacation this is not an idle location. Its located in Friedhemsplan which is like 30 minutes walk from the centre of the city and around 15-20 minutes by taxi. Though there is a metro station nearby, a 5 minute walk from the hotel which takes you to the Stockholm Central station in 15 minutes. Our check in was average with a lot of unnecessary time being wasted in asking for various documents as well as a security. The check in time is at 3 pm and we arrived at around 2ish so they allotted one room to us and the second one was allotted post 3 pm despite of some rooms being vacant. Maybe a Marriott policy to harass patrons even when the rooms are available. The room typical Courtyard with all the basic amenities. We had access to free wi-fi during our stay. Most of the times the staff at the reception was quite helpful but then thats a given for any Marriott. The breakfast was really good with a lot of options even for Vegetarians like us. One of the best in our entire Scandinavian trip. One more major miss was that we were leaving early for the airport on our last day hence we had requested for a packed breakfast to be ready by 6 am and strict dietary instructions(vegetarian) were given twice to the staff at the reception. But when we arrive to leave for the airport though the breakfast was ready the sandwiches in the packed breakfast had ham in it.(Wonder when ham is considered vegetarian). My wife almost ate a portion of it and violated her religious restrictions, quite unlike marriott, was leaving stockholm and dint have the time to take it up to the highest authority, but this could have resulted in a big damage to the brand as well as a huge monetary compensation. Pros: Breakfast Cons: 1. Not Central 2. Unprofessional
"Good business stay hotel"
I've stayed at this hotel twice in the last on business - good location, city centre is a 20 min walk away, great breakfast buffet fare and comfortable rooms with good beds. The one drawback is hotel has no room service but you can order in the restaurant downstairs and carry the tray back to your room.
Nice Rooms, AND a very busy bar área every night. Food at the hotel is good. Breakfast could be better but its not bad. Good location. Good Park to go for a nice walk/run in front of the hotel. Gym its ok, better to run outside even in the cold though.
