"Excellent location; classic Marriott hospitality"
On a staycation i Waikiki, we stayed at the Courtyard, located conveniently in the heart of Waikiki. Down the street on Kuhio is the newly renovated International Market Place, several blocks towards the ocean (makai) is the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. The Duty free shops are also several blocks away. There is a new Nordstrom Rack further down on Kuhio and the No. 8 bus runs in front of the Marriott on Kuhio Avenue directly to Ala Moana Shopping Center, Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor and places in between. There is a 24 hour IHOP directly across the street. Like most Marriott, there is a market store with some sundries at the lobby of the Mairriott and a small bar with tv. We didn't sample the in house offerings as there were too many other proximate places. This Marriott has been recently refurbished. The rooms are basic, clean Marriott fare. WE had a partial ocean view which was nice, Its a bit noisy-- the trucks come early in the morning and are not quiet. The patio door was difficult to maneuver-- housekeeping came once to assist but it continued to be a problem. But overall, we had no complaints. The best part is the price-- reasonable for Waikiki and the location can't be beat. Housekeeping and reception service very friendly, courteous, prompt. there is valet parking-- like other hotel parking - its steep $39/day.
"Great Hotel & Staff"
The Courtyard Waikiki Beach entire staff treated me with the courtesy and attention you expect from a fine hotel. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly with all members of staff making me feel very welcome at all times. "Ouch! Watch out. This isn't on the beach!"
If I could go in a time machine......Marriott has another hotel located closer with ocean views. This is not that hotel. The total cost of this quick 3 night stay was almost the same as our stay at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. (With fees and excessive parking $39 per night) Parking is expensive but also directly outside our building. Our balcony view was of an empty lot and apartment buildings surrounding the area next to the canal. If you're going to pay decent money to stay in Waikiki, it should be on the beach or have views of it. Small but clean rooms and fun pool. Good for a quick stay off the main drag with grab and go self serve options in the small lobby. Know what you are getting for the money and check for other parking garage rates nearby for $22 daily. Young outdoor staff needs some training and oversight.
"Great location! But, the noise!"
Perfect location, close to everything, short walk to the ocean. Rooms are small but nice and fully functional, lobby area and pool are modern, clean and neat. We were on the 14th floor, which you would think would be quiet...nope. One of the streets the hotel is on is a very noisy one, and it seemed like it never really died down. Motorcycles, cars, anything accelerating at all hours. So, while the noise isn't controllable by the hotel, the windows and sliding glass doors are. They are old, seriously in need of replacement (by modern hotel standards), and basically provide little to no sound insulation. So, if you are a light sleeper, don't stay here. If you aren't, do.
"Enjoyed our stay. Loved the location!"
We flew in from Kona for a concert @ the Blaisdell Arena and stayed here 3 nights. It was perfect for our needs and such an easy walk everywhere. Maybe we lucked out on the location of our room, but noisy nights was never an issue with the AC on & windows closed. I found the staff and the ambience to be pleasant from start to finish. The refurbished room was comfortable, bed great and a very spacious balcony. When we visit Honolulu, we only need a room for sleeping as we continue to explore in and around the city returning to the hotel about 9pm for a night cap and bed. My husband is a Gold Level rewards member with Marriott and he is known to be fussy. He loved the experience too!
