"Marriott needs to give some love to this location"
On the plus side, the staff was friendly and responded enthusiastically and quickly to requests. Check in and out was very fast and my requests were accommodated. On the down side, I was told that this property had been recently renovated. Not having ever stayed here before I wondered where the renovation occurred. The room I was in felt very dated. The paint was peeling in the bathroom and during a rainstorm, water poured out of the AC. The location was very noisy even though my room looked out over a little used courtyard. The workout room had a peculiar odor to it; so bad that my workout scheduled suffered because I couldn't handle the odor. I would stay here again because I'm a longtime Marriott customer but it's not one of Marriott's jewels.
"Great Customer Service for my Week Long Stay"
I was checked in by Raymond at the front desk. Every time I came up to the front desk Raymond remembered my name. I have never had that happen at a large hotel. It was very nice and enhanced my week long stay. I also came to him with a request for my co-worker to have a late check out because our flights were leaving late in the day. Her request was denied when she asked. Raymond was able to grant the request for me, perhaps a cross between my hotel rewards status and his willingness to accommodate the customer. I have stayed at his hotel many times for work travel, in the past, and this was one of my best experiences staying there.
"Worked well for us"
Due to Marriott rewards we were upgraded - big room, pool was nice and the location was good. Close to restaurants, easy walking- Wished the front desk staff had been able to give recommendations. Each time we wanted to talk to the concierge - no one was around. We were looking to book tours and it would have been helpful with restaurant reservations. Ended up using trip advisor to find a Pearl Harbor tour.
"Don't waste your money"
Don't waste your money at this place, noisy, old deco room and tiny bathroom, I'm a Marriott Gold Member, they even refused to offer me breakfast voucher, and kept arguing with me for the Gold member benefit. $39 per night for valet parking only, wtf, why not robing from bank!!! Never waste your money at this place, go for Marriott Resort or Hilton close by.
I really enjoyed this hotel. Two blocks from the beach and one block away from all the mayhem on Kalakawa Ave. We stayed for 5 nights and were upgraded to a suite in the main tower, which was wonderful. The building is older, but you couldn't really tell due to the recent renovations. Staff was wonderful in every department. Bar was quaint, but got the job done. Food menu also got the job done during the times we didn't feel like venturing out. We almost stayed at the full-service Marriott Resort a few blocks away but were very glad we chose the Courtyard. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Having a huge lanai was a plus! It can get a bit noisy, but that is to be expected when you stay at an urban hotel. My only real complaint is that the hot tub wasn't hot enough and the gorgeous pool was way to cold to use. Regardless, I'd definitely recommend and would stay again. They also have a nice limo-SUV/taxi standing by to take you back to the airport for the same rates a taxi would charge. It was a great way to end our trip.
