We really enjoyed our stay at Courtyard Marriott French Quarter. From the moment we arrived Donovan was very sweet and helpful!! We were very appreciative that we were upgraded to a double king suite at check in. Check in staff was very very friendly and helpful. The Starbucks was a lovely bonus. It's very close to Bourbon st and many restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely be back to New Orleans and when I do I know where I'm staying. Thank you Donovan for being so helpful and pointing us in the right direction for anything and everything!! Thank you to the friendly staff for your lovely "southern hospitality" We truly appreciated it.
"Good despite first impressions"
We arrived at 1:00 am in the morning and found it strange to have to go up in a lift to reception. However the room itself was great - plenty of space, good storage, sitting area with a huge TV, then another big TV opposite the bed. My husband was able to find a channel that had English football on, so he was happy. The bathroom was a decent size, with the shower being over the bath. As the room was designated as 'disabled' there were several grab handles in the bath/shower area. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and soap were provided. Towels were changed every day and bedding every other day. The bed was very comfortable. There was a coffee machine in the room, with filter coffee provided, but my husband was not impressed with the quality of the coffee. I had taken tea bags and was able to make tea using the coffee machine. Although creamer was provided, we bought a small bottle of fresh milk and stored it in the fridge in the room. The cups and glasses provided were paper and plastic and were renewed every day. There was an ice machine down the corridor also a microwave. On the same floor as reception there was a little shop selling a variety of food and other essentials (batteries, plasters etc) and a microwave was also provided there. We had breakfast included in our room rate. Breakfast was provided by the Starbucks coffee shop on the same floor as reception. We were allowed to choose 1 food item and one drink each per day. Food included egg and bacon sandwiches/croissants, Danish pastries bagels, cinnamon buns etc. There was no safe in the room, but there was a safety deposit service at reception, which we used. The first time we needed some cash out of our box there was a problem as the master key had broken. We were told they were waiting for a locksmith and had no idea how long that would take. That was bad news for us as we had no cash left other than that in the box, however eventually a second master key was found and the problem resolved. The best thing of all is the location of the hotel. It is very close to the Canal Street Streetcar line and to Bourbon Street, but far enough away not to be affected by the noise.
Close and walking distance to everything, yet feels so calm away from all the crazy. The staff is friendly and helpful. Starbucks in the lobby for morning coffee. The rooms are super clean, modern, spacious and the beds comfy. The only minus is if you are looking for a New Orleans type experience and flavor, this a hotel like you would find anywhere else. In this city you are hardly in your room anyway, so this is a great place to stay.
"Well located to the French Quarter"
The best things about the hotel is the location to the French Quarter and the price. Did not like the two elevators to get to the room. Desk staff was very helpful to the area attractions. Rooms were clean and modern.
"Reasonably priced in a good location"
If you are looking to be in the French Quarter at a major chain hotel, the Marriott Courtyard is a great option. It is right around the corner from the Ritz and several other high end hotels but for a lot less. The rooms have a sitting area with a pullout couch which is great if you are traveling with children. Downsides, the bed is not the most comfortable and the bathroom is a bit small. There is no free breakfast but we'd recommend the Ruby Slipper right around the corner. Much better than a free hotel breakfast anyway.
