"All about the location "
My partner and I stayed here for one night during a weekend break in Amsterdam. The location of the hotel is perfect - close to the central train station giving easy access to the airport, and it is in the heart of the city, you literally step out onto one of the main shopping strips in Amsterdam. It's also not too far from the Anne Frank Museum. Rooms are nice and spacious and the reception staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel does lack originality and they need to focus a little on their F&B offering - we had dinner one night at the hotel and the service was very slow and a little messy. All in all a nice stay.
"Favorite hotel of our trip"
The title says it all. This was our first time in Amsterdam and we stayed for 4 nights during ADE week. This hotel was perfect from the moment we walked in and Shahad (I hope I got that right) checked us into our room. She was extremely kind while she provided us with local maps and explained to us where almost everything was, including restaurant recommendations. The room itself was bigger than the other hotels we stay in during our trip and was incredibly cozy to come back to each day. We ordered room service our first night before going to a show which was delicious and very convenient. I also used the help of the concierge who reserved all the tickets for the attractions we planned to see. The location of the hotel is also perfect as it basically took us usually less than 20 minutes to walk most things we wanted to see including the Red Light District, The Anne Frank House, and plenty of coffeeshops just right up the street. All in all, I am very glad I was able to enjoy such a wonderful stay at this Crowne Plaza before it meets its new fate as a Kimpton! Until next time
The young women at the reception were most kind, friendly and helpful. The hotel was very nice, the room and bathroom (we were upgraded) spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was so cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was awesome, lots of yummy choices including bacon and pancakes, my favorites, fresh fruit (pineapple!) and lots of other tasty offers. However, I don't understand the people here who say this is a perfect location. In cold and rainy weather we found it tiresome to traipse to the tram way at the other side of the train station. It was a long walk and we did this sometimes twice a day. This is why I prefer to stay in a city center. So nice to eat dinner, browse and walk, and go right into your hotel without searching for a tram stop, the long ride, and then a walk, when you're exhausted after a long day. You just dont get the flavor of a city when you stay out of the center. That said, we could have chosen to stay in the center, and because we are priority club, and this hotel had good reviews. we chose it. If you're looking for a centrally located hotel, this is not it. Aside from this, the concierge, and I think his name was Sergei, was so helpful on our last day. We didnt want to go into town again, and he had a very helpful suggestion that most staff would not have offered. He told us to take a long walk through a very swanky area, recommended two cafes for coffee, other interesting neighborhoods, and a great food and artisans mall called Le Halle. We hadn't seen Le Halle on any of our research, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great food hall. Also it was great to have a computer to use, and a free English newspaper. Ah, and also some chocolate and cookies and water in our room. These are the touches that make a stay really nice. I think it might have been because we were upgraded.
"A very pleasant stay and the location couldn't be better"
Great, elegant, clean facilities. Kind, service-oriented staff. Nice rooms, some with views to the city. The food quality of the breakfast was excellent. They also gave me a free drink when I checked in, which I greatly appreciated because I was very tired after a 12 hours flight from Peru :-) Very important of course, the location of this hotel is excellent, only 5 minutes walking from Amsterdam Centraal train station. They also have a concierge at the reception, who oriented me to get into some city tours, and they also sell some tickets there if you want.
"No more Crowne Plaza in the downtown"
Seems that this CP stopped accepting the bookings being converted to the 1st Kimpton Hotel outside the Americas. This Crowne Plaza was a really great hotel, extremely well located near the central railway station. Reasonably priced for the quality and convenience it could provide. There's gonna be another CP opened in near the center. Will check it up, need to find another alternative until then.
