Athens is quite spread and while we expected to be a tourist area, this wasn't the case. That said, the quality of hotel and accommodation is exceptionally good. There are some nice 'local' restaurants and bakeries in the area.
"Comfortable Clean Rooms-over all ok"
We were to board a cruise from Athens, due to which we landed up at Athens. Our hotel that was originally booked had shut down and hence we were put up here. Having visited many Crowne Plaza hotels in the past this hotel did not disappoint. The hotel is clean, Neat and comfortable. We had a good stay at the hotel however there are a few things that I should say about this. The swimming pool as it appears in the photos is not very big, it is more of a size of a large Jacuzzi and to make it worse it is not temperature controlled which makes it cold even in summer especially for people like us who hail from Asia. The food in the hotel is very average, not something you will expect from a Crowne plaza group. The Cease salad had a very strong smell of Anchovies which was over powering the remaining flavours of the dressing. At breakfast they have excellent fresh orange juice which is very refreshing. They have an option of eggs to order which you will have to mention to the hostess and they will happily oblige. It took me a lot of time to explain to them that we dot like undercooked eggs and the yolk should not be runny, whew well it was all in vain... Over all I will recommend you to stay at the hotel due to the comfort factor. Needless to worry there is a convenience store close by and many restaurants serving excellent food around, so you will not have any issues with regards to food in the area.
"Ok for a night or two."
I booked a standard room with 2 beds online a month before my trip. Because of my IHG Spire level, I emailed the hotel and asked if an upgrade to a larger room was available. The manager was very prompt and emailed that I had been upgraded to a family room that came with lounge access. We were looking forward to the visit. Upon my arrival, the taxi dropped us off and we unloaded our luggage. Sadly, no bellman was there to help with luggage so we brought the luggage inside ourselves and loaded it onto a cart. Only after it was loaded did a bellman arrive and did not apologize. Disappointing start. I was welcomed as a Spire member and checked in easily. The family room was nothing more than a standard room with 2 double beds. I'm not sure how this was an upgrade from a standard room other than the lounge access. We visited the lounge and found a technician working on the small refrigerator so we did not get any cold drinks. This is not a problem, but the work he was doing left a mess of dust and clipped wires on the floor that were not cleaned up until the next day. Also, the tables had not been cleaned in some time. More attention should be paid to keeping the lounge clean. Luckily, the snacks and drink selection were good. The gym is nice and a piece of broken equipment was fixed within hours of me bringing it to the attention of the desk. The pool on the roof is very small so be aware if you're kids like to swim. The location is not bad and there are several shops in the area if you're willing to get out a bit and explore. The front desk was helpful with directions and had a jogging map which was perfect for me since I like to run. We did left the Do Not Disturb light on so the room would not be cleaned during the day, but when we returned the light was off and the room was cleaned. This was bad because we left the room very untidy and with 2 ipads laying out - thinking the room would not be cleaned. That's not fair to the cleaner so I went to the front desk to discuss. I was irritated that the front desk attendant answered the phone twice during my discussion with her. It was bothersome enough that I told her to forget about the complaint and just went back to my room. She later called me and apologized because there were so busy, but I was frustrated enough that I didn't want to explain the cleaning issue again on the phone. If you are a Platinum or Spire member, I don't think you'll be pleased with the upgrades you'll get. It's an ok hotel and I might give it another chance if I see better reviews in the future.
I've been Herr related to a Business Trip. The Hotel was good and the Service personell was quiet nice. Good breakfast with a nice view. But there are some points they have to work on, for example the shower Head was a Bit Dirty and the room was really small without balcony. Nevertheless it was a Good stay!
Great rooms, with the best hotel bed I tried in a long time and a very comfortable bathroom! The rich and fresh breakfast with a great view we enjoyed in the mornings, fulfilled a very positive experience. I'll definitely come back.
