"Perfect Location but old facility"
I chose this hotel for its location. Rooms are average, breakfast is good and the location is JUST PERFECT, on Wangfujing Street. You can't ask for all in a time, right' If location is important to you as me, then this is the best choice. If you are looking for more comfortable rooms and more international elements, go somewhere else.
"The place to stay!!!!"
Was here on a FAM trip with other agents. From the time you walk in, your treated with class! Has all the facilities you need and then some. Breakfast buffet was very good, the rooms are well appointed.
"Old Disappointing Dated, just like IHG"
Similar to the reviews before mine, as an IHG Rewards member you try to stay at IHG hotels but the whole company seems to be going to the doghouse. The location is undeniably good, being close to multiple big name hotels in the area. However, besides that, this Crowne Plaza is not even worth the price even at 50-60% of the other 5 star hotels in the area (Regent, Grand Hyatt). I question whether it is because IHG no longer cares about brand standards or are unable to enforce them in their expansion drive previously. You be better off staying in a local 3 star hotel chain and this has nothing you expect of an international chain. 1. Rooms are dated, the musty smell hits you as you open the door. Lampshades are precariously tilted on the side and you have to spend 5 minutes balancing them so the harsh light of naked eye bulbs do not hit your eyes. 2. Not all the sockets are working. Power sockets are also badly located so don't expect to be able to charge your phone and be seated down. Think about crouching by the dustbin in the corner of the musty room. 3. Furniture is badly scuffed and the bed is okay but even the last 3 star hotel I stayed in Thailand had much better bedding overall. When you pull up the covers from under the bed, the quilt cover is not properly fixed so it seperates from the inside. 4. Internet is abysmal. Don't expect to be able to use it. I ended up spending more time in other hotel lobbies to get proper internet. 5. Power blackouts for 5-10 mins every night. During the power blackout, I tried to find an emergency torch located in the room. Could not find any. Only found that the cupboard door could not slide smoothly and you had to yank it, crushing and bruising my finger in the process. 6. Check in was okay. But if you can't speak fluent Mandarin, no one can speak English. They do not seem to understand or understand the IHG membership program either. (Maybe this is a fake IHG lol). The doorman that helps you hails taxis can only speak Mandarin as well too. This is the second Crowne Plaza in a row that has been ultra disappointing. I would advise to avoid all Crowne Plaza hotels in the future due to the dated brand standards which seem to deteriorate badly and only stay in the newer Holiday Inn Expresses or Kimpton Hotels which are quite nice (but only in the USA and you are unable to collect points on IHG for some reason they want to split the programmes). Even the Intercontinentals are a bit hit or miss with whether they are a true 5 star hotel.
"Nice staff and location"
Interesting location - 20-min walk to Tianeman Square and a 7 minute walk to a subway station. The hotel is oldish, but the lobby and room look they were renovated. Spacious enough room. Wangfujing is a famous shopping street, but a bit deserted at night. Concierge team and its manager - 5-star quality. Breakfast has a wide variety of dishes as part of the buffet.
"5 star hotel with good facilities"
Courteous staff and well furnished rooms for business stay. Breakfast spread was huge. Must try out the various dumplings. This place is close to the metro line and visiting the summer palace is quite easy.
