"A very old and dim hotel"
The hotel is rated 5 stars, but perhaps a revision is in order. The rooms are tired; the furniture is very old. Some rooms have a smell of old furniture. The hotel is not at all well lit, but very dim wherever you go. Breakfast is very good but the food service afterwards is very limited; they stop serving more than 3/4 of the lunch, dinner and snack menu at 11:00 PM (that is what is written, but when I placed an order at 10:40 PM, they told me they had stopped serving that item...long argument, but they ended up running my order). On the other hand, the location is great, a five minute walk from Wangfujing St.
"Good location, reasonable hotel"
Decent hotel on Wangfujing within walking distance of Forbidden City, Tiananmen and of course the overrated shops of Wangfujing. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is limited but okay. Only negative point is the climate control in the rooms. We had an indoor facing room with a view of the indoor courtyard. It this made the room very warm and opening a window only made the room smelling of smoke and noisy.
"Great time in Beijing."
Love the Hotel location. It is situated along Wangfujing road which I came to know it's like Orchard road in Singapore. A lot of amenities, Shopping Mall, Restaurant, Sidewalk food vendors etc. You name it, they got it. The room is quite spacious. The only hiccup is the air condition, can't turn down to the desirable temperature. Check with the counter, their reply, during winter the management will set the temperature threshold. Can't adjust beyond the limit. Each night, sleep shirtless with open window. Otherwise, it is great. A piece of advice, try not to go during winter season unless you can stand the heat.
"Solid Service, Great Breakfast, Challenging Facilities"
This hotel has great service and some amenities, but lacks in some basics such as climate control in rooms. The service and breakfasts (if included in your stay) make this place special. The concierge, especially Steve, is fantastic. He was able to arrange drivers and tours that were memorable and appropriate for the amount of time we had as a group. Steve spoke excellent English and very accessible when needed. The breakfast in the lobby features something for everyone. There are stations that provide local fare, western foods (with an emphasis on English Breakfast), Indian foods, and other breakfast options. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a dietary preference covered. While common spaces and the restaurants are ok, the bathrooms in the common areas need of attention. They have a contemporary feel with modern fixtures, but lack maintenance and cleaning. They also have a musk smell that could be fashionable if it wasn’t so heavy. It lacks the quality you might expect from this hotel. The primary concern of this hotel is the rooms are too hot, regardless of the season. In the winter the fan does little to circulate the warm air and air conditioning is not available. Windows that open to the courtyard do not cool the room and permit smoke to enter your room. I’m not sure if exterior windows open in other rooms, but you probably wouldn’t want to open them with the pollution we experienced during our visit (450 AQI). It is difficult to get good sleep, unless you like your room very hot.
I spent a night in Crownwe Plaza. The staff was very profesional. They took care of me since I checked in. The room was correct. Breakfast very complete. I spent some time in the Gym. It was complete. It had a swimming pool
