"What a disappointment (as a gold member)"
We stay at this hotel quite frequently when attending concerts in Birmingham and usually things are ok I have to say that we may be looking at other hotels for future stays. This hotel rooms are in desperate need of a major refurbishment Photos are of the bed base in a Club Room and the damp on the wall in the room directly where the shower is in the adjoining bathroom I know there is a lot of building work taking place in the vicinity of the hotel but not even an email to advise guests that the access to the hotel had changed which would have saved me half an hours drive around Birmingham due to all the road closures to get back to the hotel and find the new entrance On returning from a concert it was impossible to sit and have a quiet drink in the bar as a function was taking place in what is usually the restaurant area and the music could be heard all through the ground floor and reception area. Again no notification of this on check in.
"Lovely hotel in a convenient position "
Another great visit to this lovely hotel. Situated near The Mailbox and Grand Central station. Nice big rooms, very clean, a huge bed and all the amenities including fluffy bathrobes. They also provide complimentary bottled water, tea, coffee, biscuits and mints. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very good buffet breakfast together with some a la carte choices such as poached eggs and porridge. I stay here quite regularly and find this hotel consistently a good standard.
"Overnight stay was good"
Hotel is centrally located and great for Christmas Market. Rooms clean, large and well furnished. Bathroom a good size and toiletries provided, shower temperature control not good and kept varying whilst showering!! Had drinks in bar, considering Town Centre Hotel prices would have expected some complimentary nibbles to be provided. Breakfast the next day was excellent, service throughout stay was great. Would stay again.
Stayed here for a night last Saturday whilst visiting the Christmas Market. We checked in at about 3.30 to be told one of the two rooms we had booked wasn't ready (the hotel had been full the night before and people were late checking out, I was told). Although this wasn't the perfect start, it was dealt with admirably. The rooms we had booked needed to be close together and the receptionist spent some while moving things around until she managed to get what we needed. She also gave us some drinks vouchers for the (minor) inconvenience. Everything else was great. Yes, there is construction work going on in the car park. We still got a space - thanks to the advice of previous reviewers. (Even if the "full" sign is showing, drive up to the barrier and check the notice on it.) Yes, the corridors could do with a bit of a repaint, but neither of these issues detracted from our stay. The rooms were large and comfortable - with great views of the city. The service was excellent throughout. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The meal was delicious as was breakfast the following morning. In addition, the hotel is brilliantly positioned between the main shopping areas and the canal. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed for 2 night weekend break. Hotel is in great location only a short distance from shops and pubs. Staff were ok not over friendly but did their job. Room was dark (dark blue painted walls) room was spacious and beds were extremely comfortable. We had some noise from the air conditioner in our room so turned it off and this was fine. Breakfast was buffet style English breakfast and was really good.
