A very convenient address to be close to the lake and Michigan Ave, but far enough away to enjoy the walk to get there, whatever the weather. The beds are comfortable, there's free and reliable Wifi, good elevator ratio, clean and peaceful rooms, a safe, but in each room I have stayed there have been issues and are in need of an overhaul - water pressure and taps, doors and locks, availability of electrical outlets and somewhere to hang wet towels are what I noticed. Minor, but annoying to the traveller who is staying for an extended period of time. The breakfast, despite excellent service, lacks diversity and remained limited for my entire stay. The staff deserves high recommendation. Arriving at various times of the day, there has never been a problem and the greeting has always been friendly and welcoming. If you can, a corner room - a room number ending in 31- is away from the highway and quiet.
"Our go-to Chicago Hotel"
This is pretty much where we always book when we come to Chicago. I'm giving it a good review based on the location (right off the freeway), the cleanliness, the comfortable bed and the staff. Just got back from another weekend in Chicago and there is construction right next door. Ask for a room that faces South. There is also construction in the lobby, which is slightly annoying. This hotel is a short walk to a ton of restaurants and Whole food and Marianos are right next door, if you need to pick anything up. I just booked another weekend for July. Can't wait!
"Not what you would expect"
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 2 weeks on business. I was very surprised with the hotel. Location: Ok. About a mile and a half from the river. However, it was very easy to get there by walking or taxi (there was a taxi stand right outside the hotel. Room: I happened to stay in two different rooms during my two week stay. One was a regular double bed room and one was a room I upgraded to. Both were very nice. Microwave/ fridge were included. TV was a 46" (very nice) and bathrooms had great amenity kits. Beds were very comfortable and rooms were vary spacious for a city. Property: Very clean and very nice lobby. Overall I would highly recommend to stay at this property. If I was ever in Chicago I would definite stay there again.
"Hotel in transition"
Stayed at the hotel which is just walking distance from the major office of the company I work for. You have a choice of restaurants near the hotel that will suit the type of dining you fancy. There are also stores nearby where you can buy last minute personal supplies. Breakfast is just average. Better eat in one of the restaurants nearby. Hotel lobby is being upgraded and hope the upgrades will make it more presentable.
I’m always traveling to Chicago on business and just recently started staying here, but I’ll certainly be staying here from now on. The location is wonderful and close to plenty of restaurants. The room was plenty big as I was upgraded to a suite, and was given a room facing south a I didn't have to stare at the construction for my 4 night day. To top it all off, the front-desk staff was so nice and welcoming. Alison always offered me one of the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies when I walked back into the hotel, which were delicious. She is very charming and a pleasure to talk to. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys being away from the crazy Downtown area of Chicago, yet still being close enough to get anywhere.
