Public areas were nice, the included breakfast was good. Dinner in the restaurant was marred by slow service and truly average food. The real problem was the rooms - some in our party were assigned smoking rooms even though no smoking was specified. At least one of these rooms had an extra creature in the room as well. The other rooms were slightly musty smelling, paint was nicked, wallpaper seams were lifting, caulk in the bath was dirty and broken. I'm sure these rooms were top-notch when first done, but the look is dated and the rooms have not been well maintained. Not an awful place but I think their are better alternatives.
"Comfortable hotel in Jakarta"
When you enter in this hotel, you are subdued by the size of the lobby: huge and luxurious. The service is very polite and professional. The room is well maintained but a bit old: needs refreshment on decoration and equipment.
"large rooms & convinient location"
large rooms and good location , lobby bar was convenient place for after work relaxation. staff was friendly and helpful. some recreational facilities if added will be good for business travelers. I also used the spa facility and therapist was trained and efficient. Traffic in the city is an issue, so one should time arrival and departure from the hotel yes has a busy Japanese restaurant at lobby level for those interested
"Old Hotel But Great Service."
Pros: - Friendly and helpful staff. Really great and attentive service, better than many 5-star hotels. - Prompt housekeeping. - Very comfortable bed. - Strong water pressure in the shower. - Great city skyline view from room facing the main road. Cons: - Rooms are a bit dark at night, even with all lights turned on. Coupled with the aged feel of the carpet and furniture, I wouldn't want to spend more time than necessary in the room. - Linens have visible stains. Bath towels are clearly old and overused. - The hotel is undergoing much needed renovation. So there are limited facilities and dining options within the hotel. - Internet speed is a little bit slow. This is still a good hotel to stay for a short trip in Jakarta, given the location, the room rates and the great service. Once the renovation is complete, I'm sure the hotel will be amazing. So, I'm really looking forward to it. One very minor point to note: English proficiency among the staff may need some improvement. I noticed a hotel staff having trouble explaining things to a guest at the lobby. Even the letter left on my desk -- purportedly written by a management staff -- was littered with glaring mistakes.
"Could be a lot better......"
I last stayed at this hotel almost three years ago, nothing has really changed except that they are now doing renovations to some floors / rooms. The place is old and smells of mould. Even though i got an upgrade to a premier room, the smell is still there.....i was not given a renovated room. The cleaning /servicing of the room leaves a lot to be desired, bathroom not cleaned properly, dustbin not emptied, towels not refreshed etc. Overall very shoddy. I am on a floor that is supposed to be smoke free and a quiet floor...level 15. The concept is great but in reality not so great.....this, in reality is a smoking floor and definitely not quiet. As the elevator lift door opens you can smell the cigarette smoke..... The Marius Restaurant is closed for renovation but some other outlets are open. There will be a new Japanese restaurant opening on 6th April called Chidori. Breakfast at Beranda Cafe is so so. The staff are friendly enough but due to their lack of english, what you order you do not receive.....like half boiled eggs come out as hard boiled eggs cut in half!!! As opposed to soft boiled eggs.... I have to say the coffee is pretty good. Location wise, its pretty good. You can walk to Pacific Place high end plaza, about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The Plaza Semanggi is just a short walk away using the hotel's back entrance. Overall, for a Crowne Plaza, its a bit of a let down. This place is not up the the Crowne Plaza standards.
