"Very pleasant stay "
We had a family mini break in Manchester and chose Crowne Plaza City as I like IHG hotels. It did not disappoint. Very good modern room, very close to the Northern Quarter with its interesting and vibrant atmosphere. Also close to the main city centre and the very accessible Shudehill tram stop for getting to Old Trafford. Good food in the breakfast and resturant with rapid service. A fine hotel that has nice staff and ticked all boxes
"Excellent Service. Questionable other stuff."
I stayed in room 706 for 2 days. When checking in, the staff were absolutely lovely. I was checked in by Miguel, he was absolutely lovely. Very professional and friendly. The lobby was clean and tidy. I made it to my room easily, and the first thing I noticed was that the room was very nicely decorated. Exactly like the pictures on here. The bathroom was modern and there were some samples of shampoo, soap, bath creme and body lotion. It had a fairly masculine scent but I still quite liked it. I ordered a continental breakfast to be delivered to my room (£11.95 + £4 tray fee) the lady who delivered it - if I remember correctly, she was called Maria, she was a tall brunette with olive skin, wearing purple lipstick, in case I misheard her name - was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and accommodating. She called first, which I appreciated. The food was of a really good standard, and I definitely do not regret purchasing it. You're able to have a variety of things. I had croissants, cocopops, a Starbucks hot chocolate, a rhubarb yogurt and some apple juice. I broke an acrylic nail trying to get my plug from a socket cause it was so close to the ground but that's neither here nor there. Just a little hassle. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue to me. Firstly, in the bathroom, there is a little mold on the roof of the shower and more in the tiling at the base. Probably because there is a lack of air circulation. The room did not pass the dust test on either day despite the fact I asked for my room to be serviced on the 2nd day I was there. I also was a little disconcerted that my pillows smelled as though someone else had slept there (it smelled like unwashed hair even on the first day.) Luckily, I bring my own pillowcases on getaways, because you just never know, so I didnt have to call down to the front desk. I don't blame the cleaners so much as I understand they only have a limited amount of time to get things done. My main issue was that when I checked in, I authorised spending of up to £50 for room service on my credit card, knowing I would never spend that much and I would pay the fee upon check out, it was specifically for convenience... Low and behold on day 2 when a random charge of £177 shows up on my card under the hotels name. I brought this up at checkout as I'd already paid my hotel fees via expedia, and I was told this amount would be cancelled with immediate effect. It has not disappeared from my credit card statement as yet, however, it is still set as "pending." Lets hope the lady who checked me out was able to reverse the charge for me as I really don't want to have to start calling and emailing to get it sorted. Just adds a bit of stress I was trying to get away from.
"Great hotel ."
Great hotel in great location if you like the northern quarter . Booked a club room which was really nice with king size bed and the bathroom had a separate shower and bath . Club lounge was good nice view , it's very quiet in the day with soft drinks tea coffee available . at night it was busy because they serve alcohol and canapés from 6-8 which includes house wine , bottled beer and cider ( becks- bulmers ) and spirits ( eristoff vodka, Bacardi , bells whiskey and Gordon's gin ) . The staff in the lounge are a credit to the hotel they were very attentive and made sure you had a drink at all times . Canapés were simple but nice . Would definitely stay again well worth the price we paid ( 86 for the night ) .
Very nice hotel right in the centre of Manchester. The room was very comfortable and clean. Ideal if you want a few drink and food in middle of town. Price was very reasonable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
