"3 Night Pre Cruise Stay "
Reception and concierge staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms are outdated but clean. Location was ideal for us with just a 10 minute walk to the Orlando Eye and International drive. One of my main concerns about this hotel is its lack of concern for its safety of its guests. On Saturday afternoon the fire alarms went off. We were on the 10th floor and evacuated down the stair case on our own initiative. When we got to the ground floor the exit was blocked by numerous large cushions which were being dried by a heater (the weather was atrocious that day). We made our way into the reception area with a handful of other guests to find a few members of staff just wondering around looking totally clueless. We waited in the main lobby for around 20 minutes and couldn't believe that guests arriving back at the hotel were allowed to walk past us and straight to their rooms using the elevators. There was no member of the hotel staff taking control. No one seemed concerned about the safety of the guests and staff, there was no communication. Luckily this time was a false alarm. I personally think that the hotel management need to retrain staff in fire evacuation procedures.
"Less than average"
We stayed here in December over Christmas for a few days. The place is close to the Orlando Eye and Sealife Aquarium, Madame Tussaud's, all in the same complex. It is just under a mile's walk from the hotel, so can be done on foot. Anyway, back to the hotel.. The check-in was lacklustre, even being a Gold/Platinum/whatever member does not get you quicker check-in, no recognition at check-in either. Breakfast was not inclusive (this is Orlando, every opportunity to make extra money is not wasted anywhere). Room was ok, with two double beds as we asked. Good view of the swimming pool from a high floor, there is a separate floor seemingly when booking rewards nights, as we were. Did not have cause to check out the breakfast or restaurant/room service etc, but service was nothing spectacular, even average. The staff did help when my daughter scraped her leg in a fall, with first aid etc but the next morning when we asked (a different staff member) if they had a bandage to replace the one she put on the previous night, we were told upon checking in their first aid kit, they had none left. We were leaving so would have gone and bought some anyway, but made me think how they would have handled any of the hundreds of guests needing one! Who keeps only one bandage'' Shuttles are a joke, just to keep it in the hotel description they have a couple that go out and come back at a fixed time to a fixed location and with limited capacity, so they get booked early. You might as well not bother! At the very least, given the small distance, they can keep a mini bus that shuttles on the hour or based on demand, in addition to peak couple of shuttles they have now. That would be service and would draw in and make clientele happy. The housekeeping/cleaning service was good, but a little too eager, even after Do Not Disturb signs were on and even when we did a late checkout on the last day, must have had knocks on the door for cleaning 3-4 times. Surely the staff at front desk need to tell the housekeeping that there is late checkout for our room'' The staff did not seem to care, echoing the other reviews here, although they were not outright rude. A lesson in customer service would not be out of place. This is Orlando where almost everyone is in the service industry - how did these guys end up with this attitude' Everywhere we stayed, we ate, we travelled, we took a ride in taxi or Uber, they had a great sunny attitude. Not here. And it wasn't just us, we observed other guests getting similar treatment, while in the lobby and checking in and checking out, tut tut. And it wasn't just one or two of the same suspects, it is an attitude across, reflecting badly on management, motivation, morale or pay or all of these. I bet that my review will either be ignored (like I see some here that are negative) or will get a standard "thanks for the feedback, we will improve, hope you stay again, blah blah blah" that you see on some others, selectively again. I am not staying here. Even the Holiday Inn suites near the entrance of Orlando was good, the last time I stayed there in 2012, with an on-site TGIF and the airport hotel we stayed for a couple of nights at Orlando - Doubletree was great. Not this one.. Would be good if it was free, or spending points and we needed to just sleep. Nothing else really.
"Good location but needs update "
I stayed 6 nights at this place during an exhibition: Pos.: -They put me in nice Jun. Suite at a high floor -great location for going to Orlando convention center and theme parks - you can walk to Int.'l drive where you have a pulsating nightlife -great breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Waiters are fantastic - gym is open 24hrs and equipment is in great condition Neg: - no airport shuttle only taxi (55 U$) - when I claimed I was told all Jun. suites have a connecting door which enables you to participate in your neighbors in-room activities - Jun. Suites have only Queen bed & Sofa bed no King - it's a little outdated, I was there 2009 and rooms are still the same So great location with room for improvement. But many alternatives in the neighborhood.
"Good Choice "
My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights last August to celebrate our wedding anniversary . When we checked in the lady at reception didn't bother to look at all our documents and proceeded to talk to the girl next to her even after I had pointed out our room voucher . This resulted in us being put in a lesser spec room even though we had paid for a junior suite . This was eventually resolved with the help of our travel agent . Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean and wifi was never an issue on our stay . Bathroom was spacious and v clean and well maintained .Pool area had loads of room ( the poolside bar only opened at weekend) as was later in the season . Breakfast was lovely with great choices and staff were always extremely friendly. Yes hotel can be seen as a little further but we didn't mind as it was only a 5 minute walk to shop (there is a gas station across the road that does really nice lunch options ) . We would definitely stay in this hotel again and have no hesitation recommending it.
"Great hotel and stay"
We stayed here for 3 nights during our trip to Universal Studios and we were very happy with our choice! The stuff throughout the hotel or just amazing. We got a pure room and I really could tell the difference in the air quality... we loved the free samples of the products that they left. We had a queen bed but to be honest with you it felt more like a double. That would probably be our only complaint! However the bed was super comfy which made up for the fact that we were really close together. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Ours was quite spacious however we did see some of the standard rooms and they were small. The shuttle service to and from Universal Studios was great and always on time. We did not get the chance to use the gym facilities or the pool and hot tub but we did check them out and they all looked great. We had breakfast included in our package and the buffet breakfast was just lovely. Fresh fruits, hot buffet and an omelet station which was definitely our favorite! We will certainly return here when we come back to Orlando to visit Universal Studios again :-)
