"USS CONSERVER reunion"
The Crowne Plaza Hotel is indeed an older hotel. San Diego has grown up since I was stationed here in 1966-1968 and there are many newer hotels in down town. The Crowne Plaza was quite busy over the Thursday to Sunday that I was here. The staff was friendly and helpful on my stay. The hotel restaurant staff was courteous and attentive but the food preparation was below its 4 star rating. The pool and grounds were well kept and an outdoor wedding was performed on Saturday. The view from my balcony overlooking the pool was relaxing watching the Sun set. The hotel does have its merits as I was accorded an upper room on arrival on request at no additional charge and parking was just steps away from the elevator to my floor. The road traffic is abhorrent in the north end of San Diego on every road and highway at every hour of the day. Worse than Los Angeles. Though San Diego has grown up the access roads have not.
We stayed one night and enjoyed the hot tub. The hotel was nice and I liked all the landscaping. The staff was friendly. My only complaint was the $13 they charged for parking when the hotel wasn't cheap. Short drive to Old Town. Photos are from our balcony.
"Service with a smile"
While the hotel is slightly aging the customer service and warm staff make up for it! Went for a quick, last minute family weekend and I truly appreciated the customer service. Great central location.
Room: Big, Clean, came with a balcony. Also had a fridge and microwave Amenities: like the shampoo and conditioner - smelled good. Pool was nice and big. Food: breakfast wasn't a huge selection but everything there was good quality... bacon nice and crispy. Cost of room service was good (ex: 1/2 pound burger $13, if you go downstairs it's $11). Really liked the garden and waterfall in the center of the hotel Location: everything was close. Grocery stores, restaurants, sea world
"SkillsUSA State Conference and Skills convention "
To the skills USA conference we were put in this hotel as an overflow hotel. Never once did I feel like we were and "add on". Yes the hotel is showing age. So are you. It is clean (ladies did a great job cleaning up after us!) and I felt safe with letting my students out on the grounds (always in a group. My rule) The staff went out of their way to show great care for me and my 6 students. The shuttle drivers worked hard and overtime to serve us -with a smile! Great attitudes! It all started with first arriving early at the hotel and being greeted by Alex at the front desk. His willing ness to work with us and ironing out the details of our stay was exemplary. Being able to text questions and request and them be quickly answered was a fantastic option for me as I seemed to be hearing cats all the time with these students. Going to and from the convention center, 1 mile away, was made easier with their shuttle service. With Jeff, Kyron and Oscar picking us up and dropping us off, we were never late and really did not seem stranded. Poor Jeff even got serenaded by one of our students and he put on a big smile for her. Doorman Kevin again, went out of his way to help me find color pencils when my students forgot theirs. No joking. You would have thought it was his problem not mine. All n all you have made this an enjoyable 4 days. Thank you!
