Great location for all of San Diego attractions- free shuttle to Old Towne- real comfy beds- A+Comment of H. Timothy , United States the 2014-11-14
The hotel is beautiful and the staff top notch. Located on Hotel Circle, there is east access to everything. I guess it's tied to your rate somehow, but I got two drink vouchers and free breakfast and dinner. Also free Wifi.
"Great employees. OK facility. Sushi and good bar."
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for business. The facility was clean but nothing special. Didn't use the pool but it was nice size. When I called to find out if there was a microwave or fridge in the room I was told there was not, but when I arrived I discovered my room had both! (I think they might have them only on certain floors) The sushi bar has decent food and the bar had good drinks, but the restaurant was disappointing. Very quiet and comfortable bed. The super nice and helpful employees earn this hotel the fourth star.
"Best value I've found in the area"
I am a big fan of IHG and stay with them as much as possible. This property is beautiful and well maintained. Room was clean with a balcony and sliding glass door. Super cute. An courtyard is really spectacular.
"Military-Friendly, But In Dire Need of Updating"
I booked a room with a king bed at the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley, but was told no king rooms were available at check-in. Only after invoking my IHG Rewards Spire Elite status did they find a king room available - but was not ready yet, as housekeeping was still cleaning it (I was checking in at 4:15 PM on a Monday). After some more looking, the clerk finally placed me in another king room that was ready. While the entrance to the hotel and its lobby is very attractive, the exterior/interior of the hotel is in desperate need of updating/refurbishment. While the furniture in some of the rooms has been updated, the carpet needs to be replaced (quite dirty) and the bathrooms need some serious attention - a lot of rust on the metal, disgusting grout lines on the tile floor, and a VERY noisy exhaust fan above the toilet. One of the two sinks in my bathroom was fully clogged and would not drain water (this didn't just suddenly occur), and the tub was filthy - to include the drain stopper being completely unscrewed/detached from its retaining post. While my check-in was less than easy, the customer service displayed by all of the employees I interacted with were always friendly and helpful. As I mentioned in the title of this review, this hotel is very military-friendly in that they provide an "Aloha Club" card to military/DoD personnel that entitles them to a free breakfast buffet with coffee and juice in the morning, and a free dinner buffet in the evenings (to include sodas, beer, and well drinks) on Monday through Friday. The Aloha Club card also entitles you to 20% off at their Sushi Lounge, as well as an $18 dinner voucher plus two drink vouchers for use at their Islands Restaurant on both Saturday and Sunday. These perks alone make staying at this hotel worth it for military/DoD personnel and their families, and the convenience to a myriad of Mission Valley restaurants, shopping, and cinemas make it even better if you're looking to stay outside of downtown San Diego. While the room was adequate and the appearance of the main hotel/exterior of the rooms needs attention, my stay as this hotel was enjoyable and I would certainly stay here on future visits to San Diego. Again, the military/DoD perks and proximity to dining and shopping make it completely worth it.
"Convenient Location, Helpful Pleasant Service"
Only stayed for one night for work but was very enjoyable. Located very close to old town, also somewhat half way between down town and La Jolla. Free shuttle service to Mall, Old Town and Airport. A great option if you don't want to be stuck right down town.
