"With a few tweaks could be a lot better"
The first thing that strikes you when you enter the lobby is the roof architecture, that is made to resemble a traditional Chinese house. The overall effect is nice and gives the impression of a large space. Check in was quick and efficient, with my room getting upgraded to the club floor due to my IHG status. The room is spacious and has a large bathroom. The staff are courteous and efficient, though some may struggle with English. The executive lounge on the 23rd floor is decent and offers a selection of snacks and drinks in a comfortable environment. So, why didn't I rate the hotel higher' My issues started with the airconditioning in the room, I found it warm and stuffy and was unable to make it cooler. On calling Guest Services it became apparent that this is a common problem in the hotel and the only workable option at that hour was to leave the windows open. As the hour was late and I really didn't want to wait for engineering to come and spend the next half hour tinkering around, I opted for the open window solution. In most other cities/countries that would not have been a big deal, but this was Beijing a city that is not known for its refreshing and pristine air quality. My second issue was that even though I was on a non smoking floor, I found cigarette smoke wafting into my room. On peeking outside I was presented with the rather bizarre sight of a man in a dressing gown sprawled on a sofa smoking merrily smoking away in the common area of the floor. Clearly the no smoking signs around weren't for him....
Good hotel restaurants and lobby bar good value and excellent choice. Gym is average. One major complaint, my room was unbearably hot. Despite a visit to the reception and a visit from engineering, the issue remained unresolved. For a hotel of this standard to be unable to control the room temperature to a personal level, is simply not acceptable.
"Comfortable with good service..."
Check-in was fast and efficient. Staff was professional and friendly. Clean and spacious room with a nice comfy bed. Concierge was very helpful in mailing a big parcel. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection. Location is a bit out of the way; plan ahead if you are meetings around peak traffic hours. Beside a shopping mall with many restaurants. Overall not bad.
"Very posh and comfortable, our needs were met"
This was a great hotel to stay in and excellent value. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were super. The gym and pool were excellent - the gym even included a squat rack. The breakfast buffet was stellar at 150 Yuan (~$20) per person. It was just absolutely stunning. We'd definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again in the future. The hotel is located right outside of a mall which also has a grocery story attached.
"Very good hotel, bad localization"
Stayed for one day in this hotel (dez/2016). Hotel is for sure a 4 to 5-star. Very large areas, huge breakfast place. Didn't visit the gym or swimming pool. Staff is very polite and helpful. Room is big and also the bathroom is very nice. TV got some decent english channels (not many) and WIFI is also ok. The only problem is the bed, which is very very hard (solid rock) and my shoulder was hurting a lot after one day sleep. Maybe there is a different room/bed available, but since I was in a hurry I didn't ask to change. Location is a bit away from any known place, you will have to use a taxi/train to get anywhere (Sight-seen, supermarket, etc), there is no way to do it by foot Concierge is good, but they didn't know how to guide me to take the S2 train to Balading(Great Wall) and only offered the bus tour or taxi. I had to research on google how to get the S2 in order to save some money. Overall a very good experience.
