"Preferred hotel in Jhb"
Originally chosen for its proximity to my employers Head Office i continue to choose this hotel on each trip. Service is always excellent with a welcoming smile and a recognition of a returning client. Roomrates are excellent considering location, rooms are always clean, comfortably modern and well appointed. Only slight quibble would be the poor quality of food at the in house restaurant - Butchers Block- there is much better fayre however just a short walk away in the Rosebank Mall. Additionally easy for access to the Gautrain from the airport - don't bother with taxis, its quick, efficient, cheap and most importantly SAFE..
"Great hotel with extraordinary staff"
I went to this hotel for business I can't stress enough how the staff of this hotel is by far the most friendly the most welcoming hotel I have ever been in. I dealt with Cynthia who manages the hotel. This lady is just the best. Making sure all is good and ready for you. Another person made my stay fantastic was a lady called prudence Remembering my name means a lot to me. attention to manners and professionalism as well as having an impeccable smile. The food was great so were the rooms. But this hotel is not about how perfect the rooms are It is about how perfect the staff is. This is a winner to me. Cannot fault in any ways how they have dealt with me. I'm sad I'm leaving. I felt at home with family. Five stars from me. Well done.
"Dismal hotel and shocking service"
My friends and i booked this hotel for the 30 September 2016 - the hotel was apparently fully booked as they had a conference but managed to find two rooms to celebrate my friends birthday and bridal shower the next day. Upon check in, we were given such attitude by the host - he wouldn't give me the second key for the room as the girl i was sharing with wasn't there yet. No information was given regarding what time breakfast is, where its held, whats close-by to the hotel etc. Upon all 4 guests arriving we had booked dinner at 54 on Bath and asked the concierge at the hotel if we could organise a shuttle to 54 on Bath - she said no and asked us to organise ourselves a taxi or uber. we decided to uber it and as we walked out of the hotel, we see 54 on Bath literally 170m away. 170m away and she couldn't even tell us its within walking distance. She was so uninterested in our request - she just waved us off to taxi area. That same evening,my friends ordered room service - they ordered wine by the glass and were given this after 40 minutes and calling repetitively for the order. once it was delivered, the waiter came back to the room and said there was a mistake - that bottle could only be sold as a whole (not by glass) so we would have to buy the full bottle. The next morning at breakfast, as it was the brides birthday, we went down earlier to set a table, request champagne bucket etc to make it special. as i mentioned before, the hotel was fully booked due to a conference but as we got to breakfast, they were short-staffed and we were asked to set our own table.there were no clean tables and no preset tables and when asking for help, the staff showed us where to find cutlery and crockery and asked us to set our own table. This was shocking service from Crowne Plaza a 4 star hotel to say the least! in terms of the room, they are dated but clean, the lamps were broken, the headboard skew, wallpaper peeling off - it was honestly a nightmare for something that we were looking forward to as a treat and birthday bridal shower kickoff I will never stay here again - it was poor service and not worth my money at all!
"A very bad experience"
I visited from 10th January to 12th January with my friends and family and the experience was very bad. The staff was not cooperative and I even lost my camera in the hotel lobby. When asked about the CCTV footage different staff membets told us four different stories and tried to make a fool of us. At last I had to return without my camera and it was a total disappointment. At the very least the staff could have shown proper etiquette of being the hosts and not try to put blame on us while feigning innocence. I would not recommend the hotel to other travelers after what I have been through.
"VERY VERY DISASPOINTED THIS TIME;"
it was is the third time i went to this hotel and i don' t think i will return, i was too disapointed this time; as it was week before christmas they didnt bother with anything like : spa and steam bath were under maNtenance, so you can t use them; i was dying for one after 12 HOurs trip from paris; i rushed in.. and it didnt work ; i ask them for how long, noone knew.. so i was sure it wouldn t work for the whole week..AND I WAS RIGHT:( ; they should mention it on their website! pool is absolutlyy freezing cold: it was the same last time i came: no matter what the temperature is outside, super hot, 35 degrees or whatever, the pool stays freezing cold water in it so it stays that freezing,' i dont get it !!' so if you come for pool forget it!! breakfast buffet: last time i came buffet was amazing: now only half choice and size, they tell me because it s week before christmas... so they reduce everything..highly disapointed for a 4 stars hotel, buffet is basic i booked a taxi to go to my customer in the morning from the hotel: the taxi they provided had no idea where he was going, droped me at wronG adress, didnt put his gps, didnt enter the adress i gave to the hotel..i arrived late and stressed at the customer; i told them i doont want this driver ever again: they told me no problem you won t see him agin; the next day.. same driver!! i refused to go with him so i waited a bit and they provided another driver; but others drivers also didnt know the city very well.. so theres definitly a problem with taxi drivers; room service: i insisted to have some balsamic vinegar cause i cant eat proper sauce; i explained it very clearly on the phone 3,4 times: they didnt bring it; so the guy said he will pick it put immediatly and come back: it took so long that i finished eating by the time he came back with my sauce... no water bottle in the room,! i was in a nice room upgraded, even in big room they dont put any water bottle, which is a minimum in a 4 star nothing in the fridge, nothing to eat, or sweets or anything, no mini bar.. i put the no disturb sign on my room the previous day, then when i left in the morning i turned it the other way round so there was no sign on it; at the end of the day when i return they diDnt clean my room; they told me there was the non distrurb sign on my door; the staff turned it again on the non disturb sign cause they assume it was turned the wrong side.. it happened two times there is no mirror in the bedroom, and no socket in the bath room; so if you want to make yOur brushing in front of a mirror, you can t! definitly the person who designed this room wasn t a girl.. FRESH FRUITS THAT WERE DELICOUS LAST TIME had no taste at all this time when i checked in they took 600 from my credit card for the pre payments; 15 minutes later reception knocked at my door saying they made a mistake and took 6000;; they realize it quick and they came to tell me which i really appreciated, but shouldn t make the mistake in the first place so: as it seems that week before christmas customers dont deserve what they should be expecting from a 4 stars hotel, and they provide half services or no services at all (steam bath ) they should offer a 50 perc ent discount; fair enough no' dont charge the normal tarrif if you re not able to provide full service,!! as a customer i dont care if you re short on staff on this week and do your maintenance stuff this week: i am a customer paying normal price and don t i deserve the normal services' MY company is paying so it was not about monney it s just about providing full norma lservice everytime no matter which week we are.. not worth a 4 star this time, definitly not... other wise room is nice, bed super comfortable and staff is always kind as usual, location is ok, near a mall and not very far from city center (depends on traffic) but this time service provided was really too dispapointING,
