"Lovely stay but room for improvement"
Me and my best friend stayed here on Sunday evening after watching The Imparcatical Jokers at the 02 on Sunday 15 January 2017. Here is what I thought: LOCATION- COULD'T BE BETTER The hotel is in an absolutely brilliant location- I didn't really realise when booking the room how convenient the hotels location was until we turned up. Its located just opposite the new emirates cable car air line which takes you basically from the hotel across the river to the 02- perfect for anyone going to the 02. LOVELY CLEAN ROOM We stayed in a double twin room- it was immaculate, very nice and clean. Really liked the fact that there were two double beds in the room as well- we didn't need to pay extra even though when we booked we chose a standard 'twin room' so again 5/5 for the room. (Side note: ask if you want a nice view- we didn't specify, so got a not very impressive view of the multi story car park at the back of the hotel, but it didn't really bother us) DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SPA The Spa itself was really lovely and very clean- no one was in there when we went down on Monday morning for a swim- HOWEVER the steam room was closed due to 'essential maintenance'. REALLY DISAPPOINTED. Once of the reasons we specifically booked this hotel was the fact there was a spa. It annoyed us that there wasn't anyone working on the steam room for its 'essential maintenance'. And if it was that 'essential' we don't see why they couldn't have done this work when the spa was closed as its not open 24 hours anyway. What a shame when the hotel was doing so well! ROOM SERVICE- POOR Not the best. Firstly the man behind the reception desk was not very helpful at explaining that they take a £50 holding fee from your card and then in the morning when you checkout they take off the money you spent ordering room service. We came back from our show at 11pm when the 'night menu' is served. This is a really limited menu (and crazily over-priced even for room service) with about 5 items to choose from. The pizza we ordered was burnt underneath and very bland. It clearly was one of those £2.00 Chicago Town pizzas- and it cost £17.00 (£5 of that was the cost of getting it bought up to our room which is a service charge written in the smallest writing on the menu- very deceiving). Definitely wouldn't be ordering that again! BREAKFAST-GREAT Breakfast was really good, cant complain. They had a fab selection of juices and a smoothie. We ordered pancakes which was nice- and the waitress was the friendliest lady ever, I wish i caught her name. (she had black hair in like corn-rows) she made our day! Overall this was a good stay and we would come back to the hotel again. I would say the room service needs VAST improvement (too over priced for the food on offer) and the spa needs to be fully functioning when you pay full price. And yes it does smell of chlorine when you walk in the lobby (as mentioned in another Trip Adviser comment) but i don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as it means they are keeping it clean!
"Average Visit "
My friends and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a night as we were visiting the London Boat Show at the ExCel. We had booked 2 double bed rooms (for 4 people in each). We arrived at approximately 11.30am, were greeted by a friendly receptionist and luckily one room was ready. We had travelled for 3 hours and wanted to change beforehand so we checked in to one of the rooms. Upon check in we were told a deposit was required of £50. This is not obvious when booking the hotel through travel companies i.e. Booking.com however we paid this on a credit card. The receptionist advised that we could book breakfast in advance for £11 each, we politely declined! The room was a good size and it had tea and coffee facilities along with a view of the multi-storey car Park. My one issue with the room was that the shower gel pump was empty! This meant we only had a very small shower gel to go round all of us (it's basically one showers worth). We did request more towels which took over an hour to be brought up! The bed was comfy and the room was quiet which aided a good nights sleep. I must mention one thing... when our friends checked in to their room they had not brought a debit/credit card with them. The hotel staff were not accommodating at all and when the manager was asked to come over he simply said 'it's policy to take a deposit' we were told that £100 cash was required along with ID from someone staying in the room. This is understandable although the way the hotel go about this is not helpful at all. Overall the stay was okay, some very helpful staff that are let down by unhelpful others.
"1 night unexpected stay"
Had to book an unexpected 1 night stay on 09/01/17 due to the British Airways recent industrial action & rearrangement of our travel plans. Early flight from London City airport instead of Heathrow airport. Check in & out was most efficient & informative - friendly service. Room allocated was upgraded and due to it been a special occasion - decorative towels & flower petals on the bed, a lovely kind gesture. Room & bathroom was well equipped and immaculately clean. Quiet nights sleep - no noise. Perfect for our early start. Great transport links to London City airport on the DLR - Restaurants & bars close by - hotel bar was used for an early night cap, perfect in every way. Would return with out a doubt.
"Comfortable Stay - Great for O2!"
I was a bit sceptical of this Crowne Plaza after reading some of the negative reviews that were left over Christmas and New Year; however, we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and with no regrets! The room was spacious and comfortable, the beds were so comfy we nearly missed breakfast and the hotel itself was very clean and stylish. Just what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel in London! The hotel is literally seconds away from the Emirates Air Line which can take you across the river to the O2 or alternatively you're only a 15 minute walk away from Canning Town station which is just one stop away from North Greenwich. This is an ideal hotel for anyone looking for a short stay whilst seeing a show at the O2. We will definitely be returning again in March to see another show. Next time we'll try and remember our swimming attire to make full use of the pool and gym facilities!
"Great location and excellent staff"
Was there over Christmas for 15 nights while our daughter was performing over at the O2 arena/Disney on Ice. Aside for being a very convenient location for going back and forth to the O2 which we used the Emirates cable car which has a nice view of the area and fun. You are also very close, a 2 minute walk to Royal Victoria rail/DLR station. we really enjoyed our stay there. As to the rooms they are quite large considering 3 of us were sharing a room , comfortable beds and excellent maid service. We had daily breakfast included and selection of items was very good. We never used the on-site pool or Spa service, but seemed to be a lot of people coming and going. The front desk staff were very professional and polite, also very helpful. We also arranged car service twice while we there, on Christmas day and to Heathrow, both times excellent. Always tough not being at home over Christmas but the staff at Crowne Plaza made it feel a little like home, well done, would highly recommend staying there any time of the year.
