Super hotel with lovely staff in an excellent location.Comment of C. Sharon , United Kingdom the 2015-04-10
Amazing stay at this hotel for 3 nights. We were upgraded to a Club Room which was really lovely, and our views of the financial district of London was great. A special mention must go to Fred at guest relations who checked us in, upgraded us and had a gorgeous chocolate cake and card sent to our room for our anniversary. We will certainly be back, and thank you Fred.
"Good Central 4* Hotel in Blackfriars"
This is a larger hotel situated opposite Blackfriars underground station (Northside of river). 10 minute walk to St Pauls Cathedral and Fleet St. A few bars & restaurants nearby maínly lively during lunchtimes for workers in City area. Hotel rooms are fair size with every amenity - mini bar/hairdriers/clothes press/bath robe. Did not use room service. Reception/foyer/guest relations desk/ all efficient and friendly. In general hotel needs updating with a lick of paint. Breakfast room was very busy and small for capacity of hotel. Room rate was good for this area. I would return again.
Location is as good as it gets for a weekend getaway. Service impeccable and hotel offers everything you might need, without being overly costly. Price to quality ratio hard to beat or even match. Will stay there again for sure on next visit.
"Classy hotel in a central location near the Thames and Underground"
The hotel has a nice lobby and bar area, the room I had on the second floor was a good size, complimentary bottled water, decent size mini bar, excellent bed and plenty of storage space. I also had a peaceful sleep as my room was facing the internal atrium. The outside rooms do not have much of a view, having stayed before, but the hotel is very close to the Thames, to the river boat terminal and Black Friars underground station is just across the road. I used the club lounge, the area is not vast but the food items and drinks in the evening were excellent. Breakfast downstairs can get busy so it is a good idea to avoid peak times, the breakfast selection is varied, both hot items and cereals, fruit etc. I also found the staff polite and helpful. I had a couple of issues with a previous stay, but was very pleased this was addressed and resolved swiftly.
"Cold and tired"
The hotel is conveniently located near the Blackfriars tube station. There are some restaurants within walking distance. I had a few issues here, given I have stayed in iHG hotels before. The front desk was cold and disinterested. In fact many, including the concierge, do everything to avoid eye contact in case they have to respond to a question. Expecting a smile or a greeting is futile. Cleanliness and service was an issue. Breakfast cutlery had dried food, more than once the table (though set up) had used jam bottles and leftover milk left by previous diners. The service staff could not bothered. Not what you expect from an iHG hotel. Rooms were dusty and tired. Bathrooms were peeling and the bathtub had a rusty bath stopper. Smell of smoke in the corridor at Club level. Room service was a sad affair; one of the dishes arrived uncovered and a coffee order took 1.5 hours. In short this was a disappointing stay.
