"University visit "
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. Very good location. Walking distance from the Plaza and shopping district. The rooms are spacious enough, calm and clean. The receptionists were always helpful multilingual and smiling.
"Not up to standards"
I was not pleased with this location. Crowne Plaza properties are typically reliable but this was not. The wireless signal in rooms were spotty at best. For being a business hotel you would think wireless would be a priority. When asking the front desk if they could fix it I was given an answer of "we can reset the router but if that doesn't work you can come down to our business center". That would be expected in a small hotel but for a large business focused property it was a disappointing response. Additionally, the breakfast was pretty awful. Bacon was not cooked fully. You had to cook the eggs yourself if you wanted hard boiled eggs. Some of the coffee machines seemed to not work one day over another. Rooms would not stay cold and temperature would need to consistently need to be turned colder. Woke up multiple nights sweating even though it was October. Positive elements included that it has a decent location with friendly staff.
Montpellier was not really on my list of places to visit, but passing through between Cannes and Corrèzes we discovered a lovely city and a great hotel. To get to the Crown Plaza is a bit convoluted, but it is well indicated. The hotel is modern, in a quiet location and no more than a ten minute walk from the old town. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite with terrace, regretting we were staying only for the night. We took a peek at the swimmingpool from our terrace, it looked great. We had an afternoon to visit the city, enough to realise that the Crown Plaza is a good place to use as a base to further explore both the city and the surroundings of Montpellier. Other than that: a functional place, in a quiet setting (the train passes fairly close by but the windows are well insulated).
"Best hotel option in Montpellier"
There arent too many choices in Montpellier for the business traveler, often boiling down to the Pullman or the Crowne Plaza. Between the two I prefer the Crowne Plaza as the rooms are larger, brighter and the hotel has a nicer feel to it. The gym is basic with two treadmills, but the pool deck is a nice touch. The restaurant is functional though I wish they would change their breakfast buffet menu more often, as it gets monotonous. Wifi is free and has decent coverage, with the staff as one would expect at a Crowne Plaza. Overall, it is my hotel of choice in Montpellier.
"Good modern functional hotel"
The Crowne Plaza is a large functional hotel that caters primarily for business guests rather than tourists. There is a direct lift and bridge connection to the Corum congress centre close by, however this was not very inviting at night. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the Place de la Comedie through a park. Sometimes when we passed through the park there were groups of homeless people with dogs sitting around, however we didn't feel unsafe since there were regular police patrols in the area. The hotel has all the usual amenities plus a swimming pool. The breakfasts were very good and the choice was excellent, however we didn't eat there in the evenings so I can't comment on the restaurant. Our room was quiet and well appointed with a good a/c which was fortunate for us during a 35º heatwave. We had a lovely panoramic view from the large window on the fourth floor. All in all a good hotel.
