"Not sure it's 4 Stars"
Overall enjoyed a one night stay (Saturday) Firstly all the staff we interacted with were first class both in a professional sense and friendly sense. We had a problem with the room that was dealt with in a smooth and efficient manner. The breakfast was excellent. Now the bad bits , I asked for a quite room and we got the first room in the corridor, which also faced a police station.( Remember this is Newcastle on a Saturday night). As stated by a previous revue the pillows leave a bit to be desired coupled with the traditional hotel firm bed not a great night. Never used the pool so can't comment, Had a couple of drinks in the bar that did not take my eyes out. All this said just feel something is missing, at £173 a night you want to feel a wow factor, or is it just us. Hopefully the hotel will coment
Visited this hotel with friends after touring the Hunter Valley Vineyards. What a wonderful place and an excellent choice location, by the side of the river. We had a riverside room where we could see the tugs and river traffic. We witnessed a heavy thunderstorm at this time. The room was just wonderful. It had an entrance/kitchenette, with a lounge area and big TV. Screen doors led to the bedroom and the king sized bed, where there was a further TV. The bathroom was well appointed with bath, shower over, and a good sized bowl. Tea making facilities too. We ate in the restaurant at dinner time, this too was a great experience. Breakfast was full of choices, from continental to cooked breakfast. Eggs cooked to your liking as well. There are walks directly outside the hotel by the side of the river, and watch the boys fish. We could not fault this hotel, nor could we the same brand hotel in Singapore. A delight to stay here.
"Very Poor Restaurant"
Well asked for a small portion of Chicken Tikka - told not available!!!! Really poor didn't care about cost just cared About the size of the portion. Walked out won't be back Think about what the customer wants poor service
We normally use the Hilton when we stay over in Newcastle but we wanted a change so booked a one night stay - two adults and two teenagers. The room was spacious, with two double beds (the pillows are too hard for a good nights sleep). The bathroom was ample to accommodate all of us (it had a separate shower and bath-always handy when you've got kids with you). Standard tea & coffee available in the room. It has a small but functional gym and a swimming pool which the kids loved. Good location within easy walking distance to the City centre. Car parking is close by & hotel can be accessed from parking floor 10. Didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on quality. Overall it's a good hotel and easily comparable to the Hilton. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we'll probably use this as our new stay over location when we come to Newcastle.
"Mineral House Spa"
Recently enjoyed a spa day at the Mineral House Spa @ Crowne Plaza. There was 4 girls all doing the eastern escape package which included a 55min treatment, lunch and a cocktail. The spa was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been any better, making us feel relaxed and pampered for the whole stay. The treatments were luxurious and we all had a fantastic experience. We also used the gym before the pool and even though small it had fantastic equipment and everything we needed. The pool is also small but adequate to have a leisurely swim in between a jacuzzi and steam. unfortunately there's no sauna. The only down side to the facilities at the mineral house is the changing rooms, they really weren't big enough for 4 of us to get ready. There was 7 of us at one point trying to use lockers and get changed, some of us had to use the toilets next door and wait for others to get ready, not ideal. The lunch was really nice, we had the choice of this or afternoon tea. The options were very limited a choice of only 2 starters or two mains.. both of whic were pasta but the staff did omit the pasta and gave me extra veg after I asked for it to be gluten free. The cocktails were delicious. All in all a really nice day. We will defiantly return, the staff are the real tribute to this spa, thank you girls.
