The Crowne Plaza Porto is located on the Avenida da Boavista, in the heart of the city’s new business district.
"Comfortable and classic"
I stayed here on business and found the room to be suitable for both the business and leisure traveller. The room had recently been refurbished and had two comfortable chairs which were great to relax on rather than having to sit on the bed. The room also had a desk for working at. There were little extras such as slippers, dressing gowns, free water and fruit which were complimentary and added to the luxury feel. Whilst not in the centre of Porto old town, the hotel is within walking distance, it took me around 45 minutes to walk there. On the way back I took a taxi which cost around €6. The hotel is a short (15 minute) taxi ride from the airport which cost €15. The hotel is very comfortable with soft pillows and duvet and I would happily stay again. The breakfast is buffet style with considerable choice and of good quality.
"Couldn't do more! "
Great stay at Crowne Plaza arrived on my birthday which was noted by lovely lady on reception. Room was not ready so after enjoying a welcome Port wine we headed off, and returned later to find we had been upgraded to a suite. Fab room with panaromatic views of area. Later that eve room service arrived with complementary champagne and birthday cake, I was blown away! Staff all pleasant and helpful, breakfast plentiful, buffet style so something for everyone. Fab few days in this city thanks everyone at Crowne Plaza !
"Crowne Plaza Porto. Nice Hotel"
Stayed here for 3 night as part of a Fleetway Package. This is a good hotel. Superb, large rooms, a safe, fast wifi, outstanding room service. Excellent TV- even managed to watch International Rugby one evening. Breakfast was outstanding. Plenty of good quality food in great variety. Also had an evening meal which was of high quality even though it was rather "fussy"- I prefer good solid food rather than flavoured lettuce ! but although expensive, it was tasty and filling. There was a little noise from the refurbishment of the elevators but the hotel was well aware of this and offered "any and every solution for the customers". In fact all of the staff were great, friendly and very helpful. There are a couple of supermarkets within 5 minutes of the of the hotel and a few good restaurants nearby. I recommend Churrasqueira Sao Francisco, half way to Casa da Musica. Excellent food and service and reasonable price. You can get into The older part of Porto by metro or bus 203 or 504. About Euro 1.85 single. Take the Metro from Casa da Musica about 8 minutes walk away and get off at Balhao for the shopping at Rua Santa Caterina or change at Trinidade for the Jardim do Morro and the viewing point over the whole city and Luis bridge or ride further on to El Corte Ingles Department store. We bought two day tickets for the tourist Red bus which included Hop on/off transport around the city. Porto is very, very hilly and this bus made travel much easier. The tickets included a river trip and entry to two Port Wine tasting sessions. The Red bus is in fact two separate routes- a red route and a blue route. Red route buses have a "blue route" sign on them for the blue route or no sign for a red route! The red and blue routes overlap in Porto with the red route crossing over on the opposite bank via the Luis bridge where the Port Wine cellars are. It then goes back through Porto and out to the coast following the Douro back into town. The blue route follows the same route but instead of going to the coast travels out to El Corte Ingles. The Red route stops outside the Crowne Plaza on the way to the coast. Hope you enjoy your stay. Porto is a great place to visit and the Crowne Plaza was a very good base.
We were a bit concerned that the hotel is slightly out of town but there are regular buses, ask reception about getting bus/metro tickets as it is a bit convoluted,.There is also a bus that takes you N. to the coastal town of Matosinhos where there is a fish market and fantastic, reasonably priced fish restaurants. We had a junior suite, the bed was big and comfy the bathroom had a decent sized bath and was very clean. The Breakfast buffet had a good choice of hot and cold the coffee was better than most hotels but you could request a made to order cup.Staff were so very helpful throughout the hotel and were enthusiastic about making recommendations to enhance our stay.We thought it would be a formulaic business hotel but despite its size the service was personal and excellent.
"Lovely City Break"
My husband and I have just returned from a lovely city break in Porto staying at the Crowne Plaza. We had a huge Junior Suite on the 12th floor which was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. We ate one night in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious although a little more expensive than other local restaurants. Breakfast is well organised with plenty of fresh fruit and other items. The hotel arranged a Port tour at Churchill's which we really enjoyed. The bus stop opposite the hotel takes you to the city centre in less than 10 minutes on bus 201 and the ticket is €1.85, you could easily walk in 20minutes but the weather was very wet when we visited so we made use of the transport. The red route hop on tour bus also stops outside the hotel which is very handy. A great hotel to stay in when visiting Porto.
