"Great hotel just out of town"
Pros: *Lots of extras thrown in eg Drinks at the bar arrived with little pastries, crisps, nuts and fresh olives. When we visited the spa they gave us flip-flops when we forgot to bring our own. I felt very well looked after the whole time and this alone made the stay memorable. *Beautiful outdoor pool and an indoor pool/spa area as well. *Lovely breakfast with huge choice of pastries, freshly made pancakes but fairly small selection of hot items. The self pour prosecco was a nice touch. * Pleasant on site restaurant and bar facilities but as with most hotel food options there are better places in town if you have time. * Very comfortable room, bright and spacious * Bathroom spotless and well provisioned with large rain shower and plentiful hot water Cons *The hotel is not in the center of town. Be prepared to get the hotel shuttle bus, taxi or public transport if you want to sight see. * Check in/out a little bit slow
"Great for a stay out of town"
Possibly a little too far out of town for a lot of people, expect about 30 Euros in a cab to get into Rome. There is a very inexpensive shuttle service directly into Rome though which makes a big difference at 1.50 Euros each way. Not much to do in the area of the hotel, but is great for a well priced place to sleep without the price of a city centre hotel. Breakfast is a highlight and there is a great choice to fuel up with before heading out to Rome. Fitness room is ok, but very much an afterthought and is located in a hallway between the spa and a yoga / pilates room. Spa staff are NOT friendly and clearly discourage children except between the hours of 09.00 and 10.00 for some reason. Overall, the hotel is adequate, some areas could do with a refurbishment and this hotel was definitely towards the lower end of the Crowne Plazas I have previously stayed in. That being said, I would definitely consider staying here again. Clean rooms, good shower and great breakfast, pretty much what you want and at a decent price.
"Neither a Crowne nor a Plaza"
It has not him to do with a Crowne Plaza. I've experienced the one in Kyoto and the one in Melbourne, which are outstanding. This one in Rome, has only the name! The facilities are old and demand extensive renovation. You can hear the voices from almost 10 rooms beside you. Breakfast is average and wifi performance is poor. It is located far away from the city's points of interest, while the shuttle bus charges even babies. I asked for laundry service but I remained unserved. I came on a family trip for holiday and I was hosted in a room between a group of students' excursion, which did not offer me any time for relaxing. I complaint but nothing changed. This fact justifies how poor the hotel's management is. I would not recommend it even to my enemy.
"Great hotel outside busy Rome "
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. We chose it based on the amenities that it offered (pool and spa) and the deal we had offered breakfast included. We didn't use the outdoor pool. However, the indoor pool and spa area was great. The breakfast was ample tasty. They also make things without dairy on request and have a gluten free section. The staff are all welcoming and warm. It is a mix of business and leisure guests but you don't really feel that as everyone is treated with the same great service. The hotel is located about 20-30 min away from the attractions of Rome by public transport. There is a shuttle bus that the hotel provides for a fee of €1.50 each way or the public bus stop is just outside the hotel. Great hotel and a great stay in Rome. Thanks for making our stay great :)
"Needs refurbishing, no atmosphere, pricey"
Our first trip to Rome and we decided to stay in this hotel as it was just outside of the centre and we therefore got more for our money. However, for us it was too far out. In hindsight we should have spent that bit extra for a hotel in the centre so that we did not have to bother getting buses, tubes, taxis into the centre of Rome each day. It made each day just that little bit longer and more tiring, especially with children, even though they are 12 and 11. The first day we did not realise that you have to get tickets before getting onto the bus and only found this out as we tried to get onto a bus so ended up getting a taxi. We then discovered that tickets could be purchased from the hotel reception desk at 1.50 euros. These tickets allowed us onto the bus and tube and were valid for 100 mins. Before coming to Rome we had planned to visit Rome in the morning then chill out in the afternoon around the pool so that the children had a bit of time to do their own thing. However, we were informed that the outdoor pool was closed as not yet warm enough although it was April and 22 degrees and that children were only allowed in the indoor pool between the hours of 9-10am each morning. Seeing as though we had already booked our tours for the morning time this unfortunately did not meet with our plans! The reception area of the hotel is more suited to business and conferences rather than holiday makers, the bar is old fashioned with a guy playing the piano each evening. I love the piano but this music was not good! The restaurant was extremely overpriced and poor menu choice. Room service was extortionate. The first night we therefore had to walk for about 20 mins before finding a decent restaurant with good trip advisor reviews near to the hotel. The hotel do have a shuttle bus but it only goes to the Vatican in the morning and the centre of Rome in the afternoon. The room was OK. Always had a stuffy smell to it even when it had just been cleaned. Rooms were cleaned daily. The bathroom was very old fashioned and in much need of refurbishment. The shower was old and had a horrible shower curtain! For the hassle of travelling into Rome each day, money spent on taxis, tube, buses and the inconvenience of it all I wish we had stayed in the centre of Rome. Breakfast was very average and very old fashioned in the food that it offered. The only liquid on offer for cereal in a morning was milk so every morning I had to ask for soya milk (only alternative available) and every morning it took ages to arrive. There were lots of cakes on offer, meats etc. The toaster didn't work so each morning we had toast burnt on one side and not cooked on the other. The toaster was also supported on bricks to try and help the toast to fall out of the grill! We recently stayed in Madrid and the breakfast was superb. All of the usual on offer, toast, pastries etc but also a healthy section with seeds, nuts, milk alternatives etc etc. We were surprised when we checked out as we had a bill of just over £100 when we had not purchased anything from the hotel. The bill was for 6 euros per person city tax per night, including the children, which we thought was a bit steep on top of what we had already paid for the hotel. We also paid this in Barcelona but was only 1 euro per person. I would not visit this hotel again and would not recommend staying in for a holiday/city break to Rome.
