"Impeccable Service at Executive Lounge"
Reserved two adjoining rooms here, and stayed with my family for the inauguration activities of the opening of the beautiful Baha'i House of Worship in Peñalolen. Rooms in the hotel are normal as expected --- very clean, size is good, bathroom ok --- nothing extraordinary. Staff are very friendly and helpful. As an IHG Spire member, I had access to the Executive Lounge on the 22nd floor where there's daily breakfast buffet and evening cocktails. In the mornings, Mr. JORGE attends to us welcoming us with his smile and offering us freshly brewed coffee and breakfast eggs to our liking --- sunny side up, scrambled or omelette as we wish! During the evenings, Ms. PATRICIA welcomes us with an offer of tea or coffee and some savory finger food that serves as light dinner along with a spread of delicious desserts! Patricia and her staff in the evenings are just as generously kind in serving us as Jorge does in the mornings. My family felt very special during our entire stay and this has made our first Santiago experience even more memorable. Thank you for the impeccable service!
Irene and I are off on a 47 day trip of South America and Santiago is our first stop on a private tour. Organised by Inca Tours we are met off every plane, escorted to hotels, private tours and taken back to airports for departure. This is a first for us and Santiago is our first call. Arrived really buggered after 12 hours from Auckland, met at the airport by Frank our tour guide and Nestor our driver. Our room was OK with twin beds and plenty of room to unload bags etc. Staff were good and courteous whilst the only thing letting the hotel down was the kitchen in the restaurant. First night I ordered fish which arrived grilled, dry and over cooked. Irene ordered a risotto! The rice had been pre-cooked and when mixed with the sea food hadn't been stir sufficiently for the rice to cream up as it should. So the plate presented as boiled rice with the seafood mixed through it. The following night we tried for a snack. The pastrami was in name only and any relation to a real one was the spelling in the menu! Horrible! Irene had a Croque-monsieur, cheese wasn't to bad but once again, as we were in Chile I guess we should have ordered a local dish. The saving grace of the restaurant was Carlos Medina, he was urbane, attentive and charming in the extreme. I would rate the hotel three stars only. Off to Rio de Janeiro tomorrow for three days. More then.
"very nice comfortable stay in a well managed hotel"
recently spent 2 nights here on a leisure trip. Was intending on staying longer but an emergency came up and had to leave early. Was not an issue with the hotel's management and they honored my request. Check in was quick and they recognized my IHG elite status. The staff is very professional and courteous and I cannot say enough of that. Room was clean and very comfortable. I did not try the restaurant or bar so cannot comment on those issues. We liked the Central location and is 2 blocks to the Metro station. Walking distance to other areas and restaurants and shops. Would like to stay again on another visit to Santiago. We wish to thank Gustavo and staff.
We booked this hotel for 5 nights then for another 2 after coming back from our tour up north. The service was exceptional and the bellboys very helpful , Unfortunatly we had an uncomfortable experience when we were kept up all night by the guests next door . we call reception 3 times during the night, at the end I ended up going down to reception to complain at 5 am , the noise was unbearable and we could not sleep , the manager on duty did offer to change our rooms but we had to be up by 6 to go on a tour , we did request to be changed to another room for that night . on our last stay after our trip to the north of Chile we had a different room which it appeared that was being used there was a dirty plate and cutlery left on the table , the bellboy moved us to a different room straight away but it looked like it has not been cleaned either the lamp table was dusty and it was a bit smelly. Marcelo the restaurant manager was fantastic and very profesional he made sure that our room was spotless by the time we came back from our outing , he made sure that we had a pleasant stay . Unfortunatly the swimming pool was being renovated and we could not use the facilities , all our transfers were organised by the hotel which was a nice thing they offered directions and places of interest . above all it is a nice hotel conviniently located and the staff were very helpful , English was not an issue most of the staff we talked to could speak English and we were lucky to be able to communicate in spanish as well . breakfast was not included in our room fees but it was not expensive , we really enjoyed all the fresh fruits avocado and White cheese our favourite , waiters were very attentive always offering more coffee or tea . If you want to explore the city of Santiago This will be a nice hotel to stay .
"great Santiago location but inconsistent level of service"
We chose Crowne Plaza since it was the closest hotel to Universidad Catolica where my wife had her week-long conference. Besides, her other meeting mates also booked there. As far as location is concerned, it’s hard to beat since it’s two short blocks away from Italy or Independence Square to the east and 8-10 blocks away from the civic square – with the presidential palace or La Moneda – to the west. In front of it is the historic Santa Lucia hill. And it sits on Alameda Avenue, or, technically Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins Avenue, the most important commercial street of Santiago. We actually just walked to the Bella Vista district, and went up Cristobal Hill with the giant Immaculate Conception monument, then checked out the Pablo Neruda house museum, La Chascona, then walked back to the hotel. It was that convenient. The rooms are ordinary. But I did note that the lamps with the antique wrought iron finish were impressive. The woodwork – desk, clothes drawer, wardrobe cabinet – were all par for the course. The smallish TV sits on top of the clothes drawer. We missed having shower gel – all they had were bar soaps. They also didn’t have room slippers. And we had problems with the consistency of housekeeping. One time, they missed giving us the bath towels. The other time, it was the hand towels. The toilet flush lever came loose on our 2nd day and the housekeeper didn’t report it. But when we did ask her for something, she was prompt enough, like the time my wife asked for a needle and thread, and then later, more thread. Breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy but they did have two soups which was amazing. At one time, they had an active egg station but it only appeared one day during the six mornings we ate there. Wait service was very fast and efficient, and we liked the waiter Felipe who was very quick in refilling our coffee. The managers would often go hands-on when the room began to fill up. The gym was a let down. It was a very small room. They had very little equipment, and one of two ellipticals wasn’t working while one of three treadmills was down and out. My wife was disappointed with the front desk because the person wouldn’t assist with our request for an alternative to using the expensive hotel service to the airport. They kept warning us about the danger of taking another service that wasn’t theirs. Enough already. In the end, we just got the phone directory and called for a cab from one of the radio taxi companies.
