"Enjoyed our stay at this hotel"
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel and enjoyed it. Here are what we liked about the hotel: - Friendly and helpful staff including the bell boys. We asked for help at the front desk and with the concierge and every time they were attentive, friendly, and helpful. - The hotel is at a convenient location, especially if you prefer to be closer to the old town area. It is within walking distance. - The room was clean and of decent size. Bed and linen were all comfortable. Towels were of decent quality even though they were not new. - The hotel has a number of taxis available. They are a little more expensive than the ones you hail from the street, but they are very nice cars and very reliable drivers. The only thing we wish were a little different was the fact that there did not seem to be restaurants close to the hotel. There really was not much of anything around, without having to walk 10 or 20 minutes. The restaurant in the hotel was okay.
"Recover from our jetlag before the cruise"
Although the rooms are a bit dated, they were comfortable and well appointed. The hotel is well positioned in the center. Breakfast was of good quality and staff in all the department's were friendly and helpful.
"Large. somwhat impersonal hotels are not my favorite, but this one works"
This hotel caters largely to business travelers, but during the summer/new year holiday also a lot of Chilean families. We stayed for a week for a conference. Our rate included breakfast, which offered a lot of high quality choices, and a wide time period (6 to 11 a.m.). It is worth booking a room that includes the Executive Club, which offers a more limited, but also more private, breakfast, and an array gratis of drinks and grazing menu in the evening (with a patio and nice views toward the Andes). The bed was comfortable, and the room impeccably clean. Bathrooms offer outlets that accommodate US appliances, such as toothbrushes without adapters or transformers. WiFi is reliable and reasonably fast. It is easy walking distance to Bellavista and Lasterria. Both with cafes and restaurants (Lasterria more up-market). The park that fronts the river is one block away and offers lovely walks. (KFC and McDonalds are also one block away...) I wish I knew the name of our housekeeper on most days. She was so kind to us the entire week. The last day my husband left his wedding ring and she raced downstairs to catch us to return it. Room 1715. Muchas gracias.
"City break "
This is a high quality hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. The restaurant prepared healthy meal options which were very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay. Unfortunately due to advance booking we had to move hotels to the Plaza San Francisco for our next two nights and it was no where near as good.
"Centrally Located, Great Service, with Professional Staff"
The Crowne Plaza Alameda is located within walking distance of many great restaurants, parks, museums and the subway. Book a private transfer at the airport for the best value. The rooms are clean and roomy enough for 3 adults. Price per night was reasonable. The front desk staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions. All staff members with whom we had contact were friendly, from the bellboy to the concierge to the room attendant. Breakfast is quite expensive; however, there is a diner very nearby which serves moderately-priced made-to-order omelets all day, in addition to lunch and dinner. But dollar-for-dollar, the Crowne Plaza Alameda is the best value for a centrally located hotel in Santiago.
