What a lovely relaxing place to go for coffee, lunch etc. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Particularly Kirsty in the restaurant/bar area and the doorman with his great directions. Beautiful setting and wonderful views of course and lake, just a very relaxing place to go.
"Friendly staff, needs some updating to bring into 2016 4* standards"
My friends and I visited for a weekend break. We booked a vegan afternoon tea on the Friday. The staff were very friendly and made us feel at ease but the actual food was,a let down. Most of my plate was from tescos! Including chocolates, flapjack, yogurt, biscuits and an unusual tasting soya cream cheese and sugar mixture on a digestive biscuit! Our friend had a standard cream tea with some dry looking cake. The sandwiches and scones were nice and home made though. After this we laughed it off and visited the health club, we were disappointed to find it was in need of re_ grouting and the jacuzzi didn't work. It was pleasant but still definitely not 4 *! The rooms were lovely but the TV needed updating as we had to press a million buttons to change channels again not quite 4*! The grounds are truly beautiful! Breakfast was a highlight and they had soya milk and vegan sausages ready for us. Overall a pleasant stay but I would not call it 4 star and would go elsewhere for afternoon tea!
Fantastic surroundings and location ,room spacious and clean except for the terrible mattress. On inspection the mattress was very old and very badly stained .it had been masked by a padded cover which only made it more uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on the side of a hill . My nights sleep wasn't helped by the noise made by other guests in the hotel right up to about 5am . The main hotel rooms are in an annex from the main building so consequently the hotel staff are probably not aware of the noise . On all the there floor landings there was a sign requesting guests to show some consideration to other guests but this wasn't on our floor the 3rd . I think of large parties are booked in the hotel it might be best to locate them all on the same floor and probably the ground floor so as not to disrupt other guests . The staff were very efficient and friendly and I would return to the hotel but probably not at a weekend and only if they invest in some new mattresses .
This is the second time I have visited the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and so is the exterior of the hotel. Inside the hotel, the rooms are lovely, they are very clean and attractive. Our room was really spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. Toiletries were really nice too! We ordered breakfast to our room one morning, this was really tasty! We all had a Scottish breakfast, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced, well worth ordering! The staff in the hotel and restaurant were great, literally have no complaints about this hotel and hope to return again in the future!
"Leisure facilities poir"
I am a leisure member but considering cancelling. Standards dropping. No longer a Marriott hotel. Pool area very run down. Jacuzzi no longer works, vent covering missing for months, poor quality shampoo, music for aqua class breaks regularly. Management don't seem to be able sadly to see fundamental problem. Many members have left.
