Laid over in Johannesburg for 1 night. The hotel is very ultra modern in a nice location. Bed and pillows were good. Staff was very efficient and welcoming. Seems like a lot of locals come here to socialize and get together. Happy with our choice.
"Great Staff and Nice Accomodations"
Our group of 18 stayed one night between flights. Once our coach dropped us off, we entered the elevator for a ride up to the Lobby. Check in ran smoothly. Once you get off of the elevator, there is a security door to the floor accessed by your room key. This was our first experience with this type of set up. We found the extra level of room security comforting. Our room was typical in size. It was nicely appointed, the bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was very nice. I had trouble getting on the wifi so I had to make a trip to the front desk. The staff there were wonderful. Login difficulties continued so I handed my phone to the more "tech savvy" young lady. She had me logged on in no time using an alternate method. They made this unfortunate experience less of an inconvenience and more of a pleasant social occasion. The only smoking area was by the pool. You had to go through the small bar area to access it. It was a lovely setting though a little cool at night as it is open air. There are a few tables and some lounge chairs with cushions. We ordered Amarula's on the Rocks since we had heard so much about this African beverage. The guy that brought our drinks was delightful. We were flying to Zimbabwe the next day and it was his home country. Since they were not busy at that moment, he spent some time telling us about his country. The love for his country was inspiring. He was able to answer some questions and allay some anxieties about our trip. There are all kinds of restaurants and even a shopping mall nearby. Since we were tired, we opted for room service. It was very good. The only issue was at check out when the credit card system went down. Due to time constraints, I ended up having to leave the front desk staff my credit card information written on a sheet of paper with the promise to shred it once the system came back up. This was slightly unnerving but I was determined to not let this spoil my wonderful trip. I have not had any unauthorized charges on my statements. If I am ever back in Johannesburg, I would stay here.
"6 Star service"
I have never felt more welcome or valued in my many hotel stays. Every member of staff was very friendly, barely opened a single door for myself and never had to wait for service. The people on the door are the face of the hotel and are super friendly and helpful. The reception said hello every time I passed and were always smiling. They even have people waiting at every door to open the door and smile.
"Great location, nice venue but a bit gaudy"
Great location, fantastic service nice hotel. Everything you need is just on your doorstep. Had a great stay up until being woken up @ 7:00am by idiots in the gym dropping weights. 3 calls to reception & some investigation later revealed the cause however it continued on! Doesn't help at the time suffering from one to many visits to the plenty of bars & restaurants the night before. Don't stay on the floor above the gym! Apart from that, great stay!
We have been visiting the Da Vinci since it opened and the standard is always exceptional. Had a 2 bedroom suite this time.Great views, very comfortable bed with high quality linens and a warm welcome from the staff.A special thank you to Eloise!
