"Very pleasant resort to stay at!"
Reception staff very friendly and helpful. I found the location pretty much perfect, close enough to the city to walk and far enough not to hear noise. It's a very quiet and peaceful property which allows you to enjoy some hours without going out. The 2 pools are great and offer peace. The room was clean, spacious and with a nice view on the sunset and the ocean. Don't expect to be on the beach, you'll have some trees in front but still very pleasant. Very nice surprise to have 1KG of free fruit from the shop!! The resort is quite vast and on a steep hill so be prepared for some steps and walk, there are also local shuttle cars to take you up and down. I love the waterfall pool where you can enjoy a free water massage to relive your neck and shoulder tension!
"Peaceful corner of Patong"
I stayed at the Diamond Cliff for 9 nights and this hotel was probably one of the best things about my holiday. The location is great - on the edge of the town and away from the noise of central Patong, which was ideal during Songkran. The resort itself was absolutely stunning. The grounds and room were pristine, immaculately well kept and clean. I spent a lot of time at the ocean view pool and loved this area of the hotel - the landscaping and design was really nicely done - the blues and oranges complimented each other perfectly and all the running water and waterfalls added to the serene atmosphere. The staff were extremely polite and friendly, the men on the road helping you get across safely especially so. I stayed in a double duluxe room and it was huuuge and seemed to be brand new - the bed was enormous and felt like sleeping in a giant marshmallow - so comfy. My only small complaint about the room was the fluctuating water temperature in the shower - it would go from tepid to scalding hot every few seconds so you had to have a half cold shower to stop you from burning yourself. The shampoo and conditioner were also not great quality so I recommend taking your own. The only other disappointment from the hotel was the Diamond Hut restaurant which I had deliberately left to my last night as a special treat. I chose the lobster, but it was slightly chewy and somewhat flavourless. The rest of the dish was entirely underwhelming with some under-seasoned vegetables, some corn, a plain potato and choice from a sad looking salad bar. The pool and restaurant area of the Diamond Hut looked like it had seen better days too. Despite the beautiful view, the meal was definitely not worth paying £50 for. As for Phuket itself, I would highly recommend Surin beach which is a 15 minute drive up the coast from the hotel and should cost 500-700 baht each way in a taxi. The beach is beautiful with clear water and clean sand, with plenty of vendors offering mattresses and umbrellas for 100 baht. The beach restaurants are also good value, offering plenty by way of food and refreshments. Another highlight was the Phuket Old Town Walking Street Market on Sunday evening, with live music, crafts, gifts and local food. The colonial architecture was stunning. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful to stay but with easy access to Patong Beach and surrounding areas.
We arrived quite late & initially were very pleased with the room. It was big and appeared grand. We couldn't sea whether we had a sea view as it was dark but the lady said it was. After settling in we realised it was not as amazing as we thought it would be. There was a horrible musty stench which lingered throughout the room. The floor was so dirty our feet began to go black. There were dust and cobwebs everywhere and a huge black caterpillar in residence in the toilet. We were too tired to complain at that point so went to sleep. The next morning we realised our sea view was virtually non existent as there was a huge tree blocking the view. We also spoke to the receptionist who was very polite and got housekeeping to do a deep clean. The walk up to the room is a killer but they provided a buggy service to and fro every day. The room was cleaned out and the smell was gone when we arrived even though the cobwebs we spotted were still there. The pool is beautiful and as is portrayed in the pictures. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Get your own cabs though as they will only try and get you to use there's which is overpriced. 15min walk from the main strip, don't be tempted to get a moped back after a 1 few too many as you will burn your leg on the exhaust as I did. By the 3rd day the musty smell was back but we were leaving at that point. The hotel needs some renovation. Looks very dated and run down in some parts.
"Huge hotel "
My partner and i stayed here only for 2 nights. After having stayed at smaller more boutique resorts i found the Diamond Cliff a little impersonal because it was sooooo big. The staff were friendly and approachable, but not on hand as much as they are in smaller resorts. Lots of rooms means lots of people by the pools and at the breakfast buffet. It was a steep hike and a half to breakfast (or buggy ride) which was like having breakfast in a city hotel auditorium with no windows. Not ideal given the location but understandable with size of hotel. We did have a lovely and large ocean view room so that was a plus. The bed was rock hard though. The Patong shuttle was convenient but the walk isn't that far either. I think personally the smaller boutique resorts are for me next time where i can relax without as many people
"Great hotel, excellent location!"
Stayed here for 11 nights in April - rooms were spacious and authentic a Thai style... we had interconnecting rooms (booked in advance for our children) Breakfast was amazing and the pools were lovely. Right of the edge of Patong beach, quiet in the hotel but busy outside! Excellent hotel
